Brodie can see Alec becoming numb and that invokes one emotion and it is terror he does not want Alec to become him he wasn't prepared for Alec to die. He wanted to turn his kid's life around but he wasn't able to do it fast enough to save his kid....Alec didn't make it to Mayans
