Alright, I've been thinking pretty heavily on the Majikeepers and their general purpose in the story for a few chapters, and an idea came to mind while I was reading the newest chapter.
One of my biggest problems with them as a concept was their weapons. The idea of an organization of men popping up to challenge the witches isn't outlandish, if women found themselves in a place of power, others are obviously going to feel threatened without a way to govern them or fight back. HOWEVER their weapons pissed me off greatly. What's the point of closing yourself off from protecting people from Majik if your weapon is literally suited to take it down, not the person?
If their sole purpose is to combat humans while Witches are to combat Majik, then their abilities should've been something more focused on a style of killing/incapacitation for humans that Witches obviously don't practice. So needless to say, the first chapter introducing them was a bit iffy for me, but I didn't want to make judgements too early.
Moving onto the more recent chapters, I feel like a direction for the arc is starting to appear. I think it's pretty clear there won't be any conflict in terms of killing Fujimine, she fits into Ichi's "death for death" worldview perfectly. She's a person who tramples on others and takes what she wants without regard for life. He's also not bothered when Chun brings up "execution", just remarks that he's not joking around about it.
Then we're introduced to a new Majik from the past.
I've had (lost) Tottie for less than a day and lemme just say if we don't save it, then I'm killing everyone in the room and then myself. It also immediately plays into the theme we've started to build; can Majik and humans coexist in harmony?
With Tottie's inclusion, I think we're heading into a different direction to critisize the Majikeepers' ideals. It's been shown that Majik can't revolt against a skilled Witch once they've been captured, both Ichi and Desscaras have shown this. But for Tottie, who did everything possible to avoid hurting others, who wanted to coexist peacefully and was obtained against it's will, is it also going to be executed once they've taken down Fujimine?
Reminder: we don't know what happens to the Majik sucked into the Majikeepers' weapons. The one from a few chapters hasn't been shown to be released, will it be punished alongside its Witch?
Also, notice the witch left alive after Fujimine's rampage. The scar placement and barely visible, but still there rose earrings. We might have ourselves a match...
If Tricaputo is a Witch from long ago that was a friend of Tottie, I have a feeling she'll be taking center stage pretty soon and I'm honest to god excited for it. She looks cool as fuck and I've been excited to see the other head Witches for a while now!!
ANyways if they show the Majik being released from the weapons in the next chapter then oh well <3 but in any case it's an interesting thought, and if Tricaputo could take ownership of Tottie from Fujimine... Wouldn't that be fucking cool...
