Which Sentai seasonal theme do you think it the best?
To be honest, I am torn on this question. There are two options I really like but they are also REALLY obvious. The first being Ninja:
And the second being Dinosaurs:
Both of these are themes that had not been seen in Super Sentai before the 1990s and both have since returned twice. They are VERY good and fun themes, don’t get me wrong but they really are themes I wouldn’t mind seeing take a rest for a while. I love them, I really do, but we don’t need another of them in the next 10 years (which is I guess when they are due back since Dinosaurs were 1992, 2003, 2013 while Ninja were 1994, 2002 and 2015).One theme I would love to see come back is a Military theme like some of the older shows had. You know shows like Himitsu Sentai Goranger:
Where all of the team members are adults and members of a military organization. We saw it again in Dengeki Sentai Changeman:
It was the intended, in-story theme of Choujin Sentai Jetman even if it did get subverted by circumstance:
And it was the main theme of Chouriki Sentai OhRanger:
The last time we saw something even close to this was in Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters but they were more of a paramilitary organization connected to the Department of Energy and less of an actual military group. Plus, they were still using teenagers (for the most part) to fight their battles rather than adult soldiers.
I would love to see a more military-themed Sentai series come back with adult heroes. I’m not sure how well that would play with today’s audiences but it could be fun to see come back.
