Wolverine: Origins #26
Daniel Way/Stephen Segovia
there’s a very obvious ‘class’ (education) difference between Akihiro and the rest of his biological family, to the point where Akihiro is aware of and capable of manipulating social currency (without using his pheromones)
considering he was raised in a middle to upper-middle class family in the immediate post-war era Japan, he must have had a substantial amount of poetry and classical writing in his education, maybe even learnt Chinese as that was a common learning pursuit in the educated Japanese class in days gone by
then you realise how tragically funny it is that Romulus put him with this posh middle class family when 1) Akihiro’s real father is a backwater hick and 2) Romulus himself is a crusty ass Roman relic
did Akihiro’s home dynamic give serious trauma and long-lasting issues? definitely.
but considering he was raised under Akihira - a man who obviously valued manners, grace, and elegance in his son’s education - and then not only was he kidnapped by a shitty villain with no aesthetic or taste but also introduced to his redneck biological family, of which is biological father is dumber than a bag of rocks, can you really blame him for being how he is?
anyway the point is Akihiro is well educated with an innate intelligence and a tragic background so logically he’s the next Magneto don’t @ me
