can you imagine Napoleon waking up from a nightmare and feeling the need to check if Illya is safe? Even though he knows it's riduculous, he has to.
Yes I can!! Poor baby :(
Maybe he doesn’t remember anything of the dream, but he still has the urge to make sure Illya’s fine, still has to see him breathe. When he opens the door to his partner’s bedroom, he finds him fast asleep. Relieved, he leans against the doorframe and lets himself calm down before he heads for his room.
Maybe he remembers bits and pieces of the dream, enough images of blood and injuries to keep him awake. So he gets up, walks over to Illya’s room and tries to stay silent. When he sees Illya’s fine, relief washes over him and he slumps on the couch in his partner’s room. This is where Illya finds him hours later, fast asleep, and puts a blanket around him.
Maybe he remembers everything and wakes up screaming. They say third time’s a charm and he meets Illya halfway on the corridor separating their rooms. Runs into him, really, because he’s so focused on getting there, he doesn’t look up. At first, Napoleon startles, so does Illya, but then he reaches out and places his hand on his partner’s chest.
Maybe he thinks he shouldn’t care this much, but he does, so when Illya offers to talk about everything, he just nods and follows him into the living room.
