@akumunight cont. from x.
He couldn’t help the nerves pounding in his chest, tightening his throat and leaving his hands cold and wet like ice (cold like the sea, cold like the floors.) She too was a child like any other, but this ship had bullies all the same. Had she chased him in malice? Or something else? ...Well, in a way he supposed that’s why he’s here.
“I, uh...” Find your voice, it’s alright. You’ve handled so much worse- “S-Sorry for running, it’s just...you startled me and..um...Here-”
Concealed fingers pull away from behind his back, shaking loose a portion of torn bread tucked up his sleeve and into his palm. It’s offered up, like a secret, like treasure (..in this place, untainted food may as well be.) A bargaining piece as he closes the distance.
“Sorry it’s not much, I..um...could only take so much before I wouldn’t be able to hide it..”
Day 3
Sighing as he gets more and more annoyed at her absence, Seven fips through the papers in front of him angrily, almost not even seeing what was in them.
Finally giving up he smashes his fist on them and gets up, sighing yet again as if he had too much air in his lungs. She had only been acting so oddly lately, as if directed at him somehow, it wasn't fair! If he needs something to help with work then he needs it THEN, could she not see past personal boundaries and business? Of course he knew, he was raised by the proper Lady, he was well equipped regarding these things. But as for her and her emotions he may never understand.
Seeing her pass him the man only glares and turns his gaze away, never moving at all, waiting. Waiting? No, he wasn't waiting for her reaction at all. He doesn't need to know that she knows he can ignore her as much as she ignores him. It doesn't matter, after all. Hest ok.
“ you’re not weak. ”
Kid's throat tightens at the voice behind him, freezing in place with the cigarette hovering over where his lips would be. He'd been so busy moping over her that he hadn't noticed Six's approach; now hot shame washes over the boy as he wonders how much of his muttering and grumbling she had heard.
Without turning around or moving an inch, he growls hesitantly in response, "I do not need your input. What are you doing here?"
i can’t remember the last time i slept in a real bed.
dragon’s dogma ;; accepting!
No verbal additions are made to the comment, but the boy agrees all the same. Instead, he answers with a quickened pace and eager climb onto the miraculously untouched bedding. It takes him a jump with a running start, and fistfuls of cloth used like anchors to climb up, but the excitement it clear all the same as he turns to face Six from his new vantage point.
“C’mon-!” The soft chirp is offered with a hand reaching out, Mono laying himself down to extend his help as far out as little arms will allow. It’s not unlike the pose Six herself might adopt when catching his fall across a chasm, though this time with far less at stake.
...You can even see a little smile under his mask from here.
“ i made you cry. and i hate myself for that. i swore i wouldn’t be one of the people who left you hurting. ” foR MONO SOBS
He takes her words in stride, listening to her with the intent of hearing her out, but still not being sure about it. Could he really be setting himself up like this? He didn’t want to think like that, it felt too foreign to be coming from his very mind. And yet, he doesn’t want to word it in such a way. From what he could see from her, it almost looked like she wanted some sort of second chance. Everyone deserved a second chance, after all. He had wanted to believe it was so, at any rate. But it wasn’t as though the chance would be something he could freely give, with the chains making his binding almost seeming to tighten at the thought of leaving.
“I appreciate it... I really do-” he sighs, though the downtrodden face he gives doesn’t seem to have the same thought. “It doesn’t change anything else though... You hurt me in a permanent way, Six...” There was no going back at this point, he could always feel how hard the eyes bore into him. He was only glad that he didn’t turn to that anger here, like he had heard of so many people doing before. It was an exercise of his own self control, as well as finding it in himself to forgive. It was all he could do now, wasn’t it?
“I want to tell you that it’s all gonna be okay but...” he swallows, an uncomfortable feeling moving toward the pits of his chest. “But it’s really not... There’s nothing okay about it, is there?”
" don't go. please. i... i don't want to be alone... " to mono u3u
The static buzz of the television is deafening, as Mono listens to that final request. Maybe there was a part of his being that wanted to move forward. That wanted to be able to grant it, just like he would’ve wanted. But he knew that it wasn’t possible anymore. It was hard just to get enough energy just to let the message come, the tower would never let him take long enough of a break to even leave. So as much as it would have likely helped them both, there wasn’t much left for him to do.
“I have to... I can’t leave this place... It was almost too much just to come through here-” he sighs, feeling the combination of a migraine and the pull of the tower affecting him at once. Could he really do this any longer? It hurt to see her like this, but there wasn’t much he was meant to do. Maybe when he got older... Maybe then that would be alright, but now he just wasn’t sure.
❛ i was attacked — had to defend myself. ❜ / from six u3u ------ @akumunight.
The Lady was the only person in the world, save for whatever wretched god was watching their little show, who knew Six so well. She knew the past Sixes even better, considering what remained of their souls laid heavy in her heart. They all had their differences, as girls did, including sisters, but they had plenty of similarities too, as sisters also did. If there was one thing that united each iteration, it was the fact they were all stubborn, precocious girls, hard to catch and harder to keep still.
Izanami had been the smallest of all of them, and she shook off a beating and a long fall quick enough to stand by the time Mono offered his hand ( even if with pain / even if her head spun for an hour afterwards / even if all she wanted was to lay down and remember how to cry again ) . There was little doubt that this Six, far sturdier than that girl of yesteryear had been, could take an attack better than most children ------------ but that was no longer the point. Physical harm was not the only damage an attack could inflict; that was a lesson her little princess would have to learn, even if she did not understand it.
The world of adults was all about face, no matter if said world was a nightmare.
❝ Of course... Violence is unfortunate, but it is important to not allow such behaviour to be tolerated ------------ lest you encourage more incidents in the future. ❞
