Argus, the old fool, had reminded Poppy of the date. Though a semi-regular topic of conversation, the festival in particular had ostensibly, unfortunately, left her radar. As she stepped from the Leaky Cauldron into the street itself, a tad dishevelled from the Floo journey, she surveyed the joyous scene with the slightest roll of her eyes. There was music, and laughter, and pockets of dancing; and she felt like the grumpy maiden aunt in the corner, eternally disapproving. Maybe, after her business had been dealt with, she would find time for a drink and a smile with an old patient or two.
The idea didn’t remain for long. Her nose wrinkled in disdain as she passed a boisterous group of young men — already drunk, no doubt. There was a naivety to this event that her anxiety failed to ignore, however pleasant the contented bustle might be in isolation, which was aided by an innate hesitancy towards anything remotely fun when there was work to be done elsewhere. With a glance at ‘Quality Quidditch Supplies’, she conceded that her one saving grace was that it was not a Quidditch weekend.
Were it not for a hideous error by a medical supplier (Sleeping Draught instead of Calming Draught), she would still be blissfully locked up in Hogwarts, preparing for the week ahead. Tomorrow was first year Potions, followed by Charms; neither boded well for her beds. It wouldn’t do to dwell on it. As it was, she was stuck lugging along a box that would respond unfavourably to the feather-light charm. If no one noticed her, even ever swathed in burgundy, that was surely all to the good.
The Order of the Phoenix, still operating secretly with only a few members still in the know, have heard whispers of the Death Eaters being on the move once more. Concerned by these rumors and suspicious that there might be a plan to ambush the last event in the month’s celebrations, Minerva McGonagall forms a plan.
During the St. Mungo’s Remembrance Ball, conveniently held at the home of one of the most likely suspects for Death Eater ringleaders Elizabeth Nott, the remaining active members of the Order will sneak away and see if they can find any information hidden in Elizabeth Nott’s personal affairs.
With only five members still active, the group splits into two. Minerva and Sirius Black will search the downstairs, particularly any room that looks like it might be an office. Kingsley Shacklebolt, Marlene McKinnon, and Alastor Moody will search upstairs, seeing if they can find anything in the hostess’ private rooms.
No one else at the party is any the wiser about this plan, but that doesn’t mean that these five can sneak away completely unnoticed. It may be a large group, but Remus Lupin, Alice Longbottom, and Lucinda Talkalot have all taken note of at least one of the group’s absence or exit from the main ballroom. And they aren’t the only ones who have snuck away from the main event. Unbeknownst to the group of Order members, Emma Vanity and Sophia Burke are also lurking around upstairs, having a private conversation.

Next up in this month of October festivities celebrating the fifth year anniversary of the end of the war, the Ministry for Magic is proud to announce that they are partnering with St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries to host a Remembrance Ball! Hosted in the stunning ballroom of the Nott Estate, the Remembrance Ball is a time for all adults of the wizarding world to come together and celebrate peace! The ball is also an opportunity to raise funds for those still suffering from the war who seek treatment at St. Mungo’s. There will be a silent auction going on throughout the night, and all proceeds of the auction and the tickets will go to the St. Mungo’s War Memorial Fund.

Yay, another event, this one with a little more meat to it than our first ice breaking event! Held at the home of a known Death Eater’s wife, the ball has been the talk of the wizarding world for the last few weeks, and quite the heated discussion has surrounded its’ location! All adults of the wizarding world are invited to attend, so all characters have an excuse to be there!
There are some within the still-operating Order of the Phoenix (whose active members are Minerva McGonagall, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Marlene McKinnon, Alastor Moody, and Sirius Black) who think this might be the perfect opportunity to find out if those still suspected to be Death Eaters who walked free have anything unpleasant up their sleeves, and there might be a plan in motion to discover exactly that while they’re welcomed into the home of one Elizabeth Nott.
Most everyone else, though, has no idea of Elizabeth Nott’s true allegiances, and are just excited to get the chance to see this ballroom that’s been boasted about for years. And of course, there aren’t many opportunities for all of the adults of the wizarding world to gather peacefully in one place for an evening, so it’s sure to be an interesting event!
There will be a plot drop happening halfway through the event, so for this first week, threads should revolve around the first half of the night!
You are welcome to post threads that take place outside of this event, just label or tag them accordingly! For threads that take place during the event, please tag them alevent02 and 18 october 1986! Also, please don’t go past this in game date in any threads.
On October 8, 1986, an invitation arrived by owl to the home of every of age witch or wizard within the wizarding world. It gave details of the next part of this month’s series of events held to celebrate the five year mark of the end of the war. Hosted by St. Mungo’s and the Ministry for Magic, the Remembrance Ball will take place on October 18, 1896. Generously hosted at the home of Elizabeth Nott, whose manor boasts a particularly grand ballroom, all witches and wizards of age are invited to attend. The floo network will connect every wizarding house to the Nott residence on the night of the event. Tickets will be 5 Galleons per visitor, and the night will include various items to bid on and opportunities to donate to the cause.
Everyone, get excited for our second event! More details will come when the event launches on July 6 OOC, but you can bet that there’s been quite the hype about the event for weeks, especially since invitations arrived throughout the wizarding world. Consider this your character’s formal invitation to the ball –– we’re so excited to see you there!

Welcome to our first event! This event is just an innocent excuse for all of our characters to be in the same place at once. They can be popping into shops for discounts, chasing after their kids, seeking refuge from the crowds in one of the pubs, whatever you’d like! Sure, when lots of wizards get together like this in such a confined space, there’s always the possibility of some chaos, but the Ministry hopes to keep everything under control.
You are welcome to post threads that take place outside of this event, just label or tag them accordingly! For threads that take place during the event, please tag them alevent01 & 5 october 1986!
“Mungo’s Remembrance ball was surely a night to remember, though one mother may want to forget!”
“Ministry security appallingly lax at this month’s second event celebrating the end of the war.”
“For an event celebrating peace, the end was sure anything but peaceful!”
“Sources say that Liza Nott, daughter of hostess Elizabeth Nott and convicted Death Eater Stephen Nott, was attacked in her sleep. The Ministry still has no leads as to who it was that attacked the four-year-old.”
Unlike the first celebratory event this month hosted by the Ministry, the St. Mungo’s remembrance ball did not go off without a hitch. The party was very well done and highly attended and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves until a commotion from the upstairs of the Nott Estate was heard, and news spread fast. Liza Nott, four year old daughter of hostess Elizabeth Nott, had been attacked in her sleep!
Chaos ensued, and the event wrapped up quickly afterwards, and those witches and wizards who were present at the ball or heard of the events of the night can’t help but wonder just what sort of monster would attack an innocent child in her sleep?
The mission of the Order to discover information was unsuccessful. Minerva McGonagall and Sirius Black were interrupted in their search by the commotion, and had to quickly hurry to blend back into the crowd before they were caught and before they could find anything.
It was Alastor Moody who attacked the young girl after she caught him by surprise, but he had just enough time to modify her memory so that he wouldn’t be implicated in any way.
The Aurors in attendance were tasked with investigating, and Kingsley Shacklebolt and Marlene McKinnon took the lead, questioning the little girl under the watchful eye of her furious mother.
Alice Longbottom was heard protesting this attack on her family. It seems that the bonds of the Rosier family go deeper than we might have thought?
Remus Lupin didn’t seem as surprised at this turn of events as the others around him, but then, Mr. Lupin is known for being a half-glass-empty kind of person, so maybe that’s not that much of a shock.
Poppy Pomfrey offered her services to check over the little girl, and it was announced that she was going to be just fine, to the relief of her mother.
The events of the ball continued to be the talk of the town for weeks to come, and people couldn’t help but be a little more hesitant about the final event at the end of the month. What if this wasn’t just a one-time thing, but a sign of the times to come? Could the rumors about Death Eaters rising be true? And if so, why would one of them attack the daughter of a convicted Death Eater?
Wohoo, our second event is officially over! Feel free to continue threads from the event, and until Saturday, you can even start new threads having to do with the plot drop, but you are now able to go past the event in game time! In game, the date range is now October 19-October 30 1986. Again, you can do any time frame before October 30, but don’t stray past that date for now.
Sneak peek -- our next event, taking place on October 31, is the end of the month’s celebrations, culminating in a day of remembrance at Hogsmeade. Characters would know that the event is coming up, and more details to come from the admin team in time!
The plan of the Order of the Phoenix to infiltrate the Nott manor and try to discover if the Death Eaters are indeed once on the move was underway. Minerva McGonagall and Sirius Black searched the downstairs, stumbling into what looked like an office.
Marlene McKinnon, Alastor Moody, and Kingsley Shacklebolt went upstairs to search and found their way to the bedroom of Elizabeth Nott, where they began to snoop around for any information that they could find. Little did they know that little Liza Nott, the almost five-year-old daughter of Elizabeth, was asleep in her mother’s bed. Awoken by the arrival of three unfamiliar wizards in her mother’s room, Liza called out, startling Alastor, who is well known by now for his fast reflexes as an auror. He casts the Impedeminta curse, which throws the little girl into the headboard of the bed she is in. She screams.
Marlene, Alastor, and Kingsley barely have time to place a memory charm on the little girl so that she can’t rat them out before Liza’s screams attract the attention of one of the house elves, who quickly summons Elizabeth.
The party is thrown into chaos. The hostess’ four year old daughter has been attacked in her bed, and people are worried. Some begin to depart from the party, while others stay behind to watch the drama unfold. The Aurors in attendance at the party are called upon to investigate, and Marlene McKinnon and Kingsley Shacklebolt volunteer to question little Liza.

tomorrow, there will be a wrap up post officially ending the event, but feel free to begin new threads surrounding this plot drop.
even if your character wasn’t specifically mentioned, that doesn’t mean they can’t be a part of the action in some way. Does anyone see Marlene, Alastor, and Kingsley sneaking back downstairs after the girl was attacked? Does anyone stumble across Minerva and Sirius as they are searching Elizabeth’s office?
maybe your character wants to take things into their own hands and find out what really happened. maybe your character is terrified at the thought of an attack happening at a ministry event. It might remind a lot of people of the time when voldemort was in power. many witches and wizards are sure to be spooked by this turn of events.
