TARA DONOVAN
1. Untitled
Paper plates and hot glue Paper plates suggest natural systems, resembling sponges, or some other underwater element found in the sea. At the same time, they look to have a technological component, with a honeycomb pattern found in digital architecture drawings, aeronautic honeycomb filling
2.Untitled
Wood Toothpicks Size: 3.5 feet per side: The cube sculptures came about by happy accident, when Donovan knocked a box of toothpicks to the floor. Most spilled out and made the expected mess, but one cluster of toothpicks that had been tightly packed into a corner of the box held its shape. Intrigued, the artist tried to reproduce the effect.
3.Untitled
The work contains what looks to be an almost fluffy or furry sculpture, but in fact is made of thousands of acrylic rods of different lengths, quite the opposite of soft or fluffy. These “bursts” are interconnected much in the way coral appears to be. -Tara does a great job by hypnotizing sculptures that completely transform the space they’re built into -Also tara indicates that the sculpture is also activated by the movement of your body
4.Untitled
Tara doesn’t feel comfortable titling each work because she doesn’t want to to be close to one specific idea, she wants the viewer to bring their own associations to it and feel what they feel and experience with the experience from their life. -One of her latest project is "Untitled (Plastic Cups)", at Jupiter Artland, art gallery close to Edinburgh, scotland. The installation is made with over 500,000 drinking cups, stacked in different heights to create a plastic landscape. -Transparency and reflectivity are important because these traits are responsive in the sense that they can be amplified according to lighting conditions.
