Deep down Kade knew this seemed like a place he wasn’t allowed. It was to beautiful, too peaceful for the likes of him. But, no one had come to violently stop him, in fact, no one had said anything to him...yet. Though maybe that spoke more to the fact that no one seemed to be around. So maybe it was just a matter of time before he was dragged back to the city by his collar.
Deciding a moment of quiet and clean air was worth whatever came next, Kade slipped down along the trunk of a tree and sat in the shade. He let out a soft huff and rubbed his shoulder. His days off turned into ones of healing mostly, though as a human nothing seemed to ever fully heal anymore–especially when he denied offers of vampire blood.
But suddenly, he felt as if he weren’t alone–thanks to the years of abuse training he had, his alertness wasn’t ever something he could shut off. Perhaps it was paranoia, the constant beatings finally taking their toll on his brain. Nevertheless he stood and looked around the empty woods. In such a state of exhaustion, there really wasn’t much he could do until whoever it was showed themselves or he convinced himself he was truly alone.
