The Summer Islands

The summer isles are an archipelago consisting of more than fifty islands covered in rich flora and fauna, each island ruled by a prince or princess. Its three biggest islands are Walano, Omboru, and Jhala. Their variety of resources, such as gemstones, spices, wood, and animals, make them popular trading partners.

The summer islanders are known for wearing capes of colorful feathers and traveling in swan ships. They have religious practices such as carving their histories in the Talking Trees and serving in the Temples of Love.

Framed? Tyrion purposefully set her up to be Shae's fall guy.

False testimony? Tyrion validates Cersei's belief in Yaya's guilt, just like Shae validated hers and everyone else's belief in his.

He knows how to get Cersei off her back yet intentionally doesn't. An argument can be made that now Cersei has her, she's safer as his whore than just a whore, but that's not why he holds his tongue.

It's mostly for the pleasure of outsmarting Cersei and then for protecting Shae. Just like Shae testifies against Tyrion to protect Shae.

One big difference is that the way Tyrion treats Yaya is much worse than Shae treats Tyrion.

What has Tyrion done to Shae? He's hit her, isolated her, taken back all her wages while giving her additional work. (Why exactly is Shae called a gold digger for wanting her hard-earned wages back? I know the way she treats Lollys is crazy bad but like re: Tyrion, she's got a good case for hating his guts.)

What has Yaya done to Tyrion? Been nothing but pleasant and polite, even allowing him to kiss her lovely hand and cheek.

Tyrion set Yaya up. It's not incidentally his fault that she ends up in Tywin's clutches; it's by his design. He never cared what it would cost her. The way others treat Tyrion is the way he treats others. Maybe that's because it's all he knows or what he knows best.

ASOIAF bitches have made an entire genre of literary criticism out of twisting themselves into giant, angry knots over how unfair and misogynistic it is that such a huge swathe of women in this text get murdered or tortured or raped for the purpose of influencing the male characters’ storylines but you make a single inadequately deferential point about how many women of color are made to swallow up huge amounts of graphic, intense suffering for that same purpose in the service of white women and they turn into stupefied, pearl-clutching children who just can’t understand why you’re being so mean to their Stronk Female Lead Who Has Been Through So Much
