Ellie Goulding is back on the album five with an electronic dance pop

Ellie Goulding‘s forthcoming album has been characterised as “a dancing thing from outer space.”

Following her “very contemplative” previous studio album, 2020’s ‘Brightest Blue,’ the 34-year-old singer has announced she is returning to her electronic dance-pop origins.

“I spent a lot of time alone myself, pretty introspective,” she said on the Joe Wicks show.

“I had a backlog of topics on which I wanted to write. It was extremely profound and emotional. And this record is the polar opposite.

“I discovered this ideal team of authors, who all had to talk about it for some reason, on the same page. We all try to have a nice time in our quest.

Ellie, who gave birth for the first time in April to a son called Arthur with husband Caspar Jopling, said, “There were certainly some things that pushed me back.” I felt like I was in a zone where the songs weren’t reaching me; they weren’t powerful enough, in my view.
