AlciDonna human au still lives rent free in my head, I need to draw them in matching ugly sweaters.
It's Benetrescu headcanons time! Once again, it's mostly in my "they met pre-Cadou"-verse ✨
Alcina and Donna often become mutually obsessed with each others new interests, even for a short time.
Out of many things, this leads to Alcina killing numerous house plants entrusted in her care, and her reading too much about gardening.
Alcina loves the sea and used to often go to see it while on vacation with her family. After a few years of marriage, she takes Donna to that same vacation spot.
Alcina used to have a car and a driving license. Red car. Before the Cadou, she and Donna took it to travel in Romania and beyond.
Donna had lived in the village her whole life, but had visited her relatives in Italy a few times.
She met Alcina during her first ever visit to Bucharest. They got introduced to each other by a mutual friend. Said friend, who knew Alcina is gay as hell, later claims to have totally NOT expected them to start dating and fall in love.
Alcina is a lesbian, Donna is bisexual.
Alcina moved to the village after around half a year of long-distance relationship. Before the Cadou, however, the couple would still love spending time in Alcina's family home.
For the most part, while they were still not living together, it was Donna who came to visit, because of Alcina's weaker health. When Alcina felt ill, Donna found time in her busy schedule to come and see her, even for a day.
They don't exactly have pet names for each other, it's mostly just "Donna" and "Alcina". Donna uses "cara mia" and "dolcezza mia", sometimes also "dearest" or "darling". Alcina used to mostly call Donna "my dear", but switched to "my love" and "dearest" after they first confessed their feelings.
Alcina said "I love you" first - out of the blue, during a phone call. She followed up with a proper confession in a letter she sends to Donna before her first visit to the village.
Donna sometimes uses "Cina" or "Cina darling" to address Alcina. It happens more and more often the longer they are together, especially after the Cadou. Alcina used to prefer being called by her full name, but had since found comfort in the nickname.
With other people, she can't stand nicknames. Alcina likes her full name, and feels rather icky about the shortened versions.
Donna is the one of two people who are allowed not to call Alcina "Alcina" at all times. The only other person is her childhood friend, who only calls her "Alci".
Bonus: Alcina's full legal name is Alcina Magdalena Cristina (Antonia) Dimitrescu. The "Antonia" part is tentative, especially in "And the waltz goes on". I first named her lady's maid Antonia in that fic, and only later came up with Alcina's full name out of nowhere.
Some Alcina Dimitrescu/Donna Beneviento relationship headcanons, let’s go! They are all also happening within my fic, where they met before the mutation happened. I’ll probably post more later on. Enjoy <3
When they first met, the chemistry was immediately there. They start dating after a week of two of knowing each other.
Donna was way more confident before the mutation, so she had little to no trouble to start flirting with Alcina when they got introduced to each other.
It’s Alcina who asks Donna to officially be in a relationship, Alcina asks her on their first date, but Donna initiates the first kiss between the two.
Aside from her work in dollmaking, Donna enjoys sewing and singing. Alcina’s main hobbies are music and painting, she also loves to dance. Both adore reading, and often read together.
Their interests don’t exactly overlap, but rather complete each other - Alcina plays the piano and Donna sings, Alcina paints while Donna sits down to sew. They are perfectly fine with doing separate activities, but still together.
Interests in winemaking and gardening develop while they are already together, and Alcina helps Donna in the garden at first. In turn, Donna gladly listens to endless new things Alcina had learned about having a winery.
They can’t get officially married, given they live in Romania in the 1950s, but Alcina still proposes after half a year together. They later ask Mother Miranda to officiate the wedding.
As an engagement ring, Donna gave Alcina the family ring that was once worn by Donna’s mother.
They got married exactly a year after meeting each other.
In my pre-canon, pre-Cadou fic And the waltz goes on, Alcina confesses her love for Donna via letter, because I find it incredibly romantic:
My dearest Donna,
I know my feelings well, even if sometimes I'm rather horrible at showing them. I'm not very good with putting them into words, either. I wouldn't want to bore you while I struggle with what to say when we finally see each other again, so please bear with me for the duration of this letter.
A single day doesn't go by without my thoughts wandering to you. You are my anchor, Donna. My beacon, my sun, moon and stars. The greatest joy of my life.
After having a lot of time to ponder on our relationship and the way I feel about you, I'm confident it has never been another fling for fun. From the day we met, you have completely and utterly stolen my heart.
Never before did I feel such care and affection, such love. And I love you, my Donna, as much as one can love another person. I have never met a woman so remarkable. I admire your kind heart, strength, courage and brilliant mind. You have shown me so much. No matter what happens going forward, please know that I'll do anything I can to make you feel loved, safe and happy.
I can’t thank you enough for the invitation. I would be overjoyed to visit, and finally see the place you call home. I wish I could come right away, but I don’t feel well enough to travel just yet. Please let me know if a visit in a week’s time isn’t an inconvenience for the house works - I should be back on my feet by then.
I'm bored out of my mind, but the perspective of being able to see you soon and fall into your arms again is utterly blissful. For now, I’m sending all my love.
Yours eternally, Alcina
Please consider reading the story and joining the emotional roller-coaster, thanks! <3
Follow up question: you have me curious now which lord she would have sent to "retrieve" her missing pawn. As you can tell I want her safe so badly, but In your opinion who would it be and why? Another note do you know of any Donna x Alcina discords I can join for more content! And I love your alt. Donnas!
If Donna were to run, I do think Alcina would be the one MM sends to retrieve her. Alcina strikes me as the most likely to be the 'second in command' of the group since she has both competency (which Moreau lacks) and MM's best interests at heart (which Heisenberg lacks).
I don't know of any Donna/Alcina discord groups but I would probably join one in a heartbeat, lmao! I'm glad you like all my silly alt Donnas. I do have an ask for more human au Donna/Alcina cuteness so I'll be drawing that at some point 🥰
Is Donna and Alcina married or just dating in your AU? How long have the been together?
Any chance Donna would be a bee enthusiast in your human AU? Because that looks cool!
They’re just dating! Actually I flip-flop between whether or not they’re even together yet. Depends on what timeframe I happen to be drawing from 🤔
Human au Donna probably keeps bees! That’s a great idea, they help keep her garden blooming and she gets to harvest lots of honey! 🐝🐝🐝
Was a point where the daughters went to Mia or Karl saying:"Can you made Donna and Mom to be girlfriends already? Because we want two moms, and we made a beat who confess first"
I think the girls are probably still at that age where romance is a kind of a strange, incomprehensible thing so they weren't doing much matchmaking stuff. They might even be a little afraid at first, because they've seen their mom go through some messy break ups and having all been put up for adoption/foster at young ages, maybe their old home situations didn't have very healthy home dynamics or role models where they could see romantic relationships as being positive things. They quickly warm up to it though, especially because they already are very close to Donna and they can see how happy she makes their mom :)
Bela pouts for a week because she had a gay little baby crush on Donna and thinks it's unfair because, "She can't be yours, mama, I wanted to marry her!"
I have an idea that maybe they watch the Winters have their cute moments as a couple and they both start longing even more for something like that until finally one cracks and says something alone the lines of “That. I want— I need that with you.”
Oh, I can see that happening! I can see Alcina getting restless even when the Winters are just doing something simple like hugging and cheek kissing. She turns to Donna and says, "I need that with you."
Donna looks a little confused and says, "You already hug me all the time though?"
And Alcina complains, "But I don't get to kiss you!"
