Nate’s just dying in his office, laughing over the fact that Looker was using slang in the corniest way possible in a serious interrogation.
Nate's asleep at his desk again, and Looker can't help but smile softly. Gingerly, he puts a blanket around the boy's shoulders and dumps out the cold cup of coffee, replacing it with a box of chocolates, and some cool looking shades. A note is on the box, addressed to him.
(p2) "Happy valentines day, Nate. I'm sorry this is late, but I'm sure you'll still enjoy the gifts. Something has come up in Galar, and I was reassigned to investigate some missing cases. I'll be back soon, please listen to Anabel in the meantime. - With kind regards, Looker."
The young man’s eyes slowly awoke from the not so comfortable desk, a crick in his neck that he quickly cracked back into place. Instinctively he reached for where his coffee would be, only to find a box, a pair of shades, and a note. Aviators, nonetheless, and in a style he didn’t have yet! Man, this was an awesome surprise to wake up to! He was gonna have to try them on later.
Taking the note off the box, Nate began to read it, a little slower than normal being so groggy after an impromptu work nap. “Looker, huh....” Of course he would do something like this, the soft hearted dork.
“Well, I guess I gotta pay him back when he gets back... or head over to Galar for a bit,” he chuckled, placing the note and the box back down on his desk. Maybe he could convince Anabel to let him go for a bit to investigate the region for potential wormhole activity.... or something like that.
GIVING A PERSONAL AID IN HIS RECOVERY, gloved fingers carefully wipe away the sweat from a hardworking victory. Those cuts and bruises weren’t best at convincing the CHIEF proper comfort nor ease her heart. Still, the subtle sounds coming from his wonderful partner are enough to persuade her------ POKEMON TELL NO LIES, something the lilac woman understands when speaking with them. Hands try their best to keep a gentle pace as she soothes the cuts before applying medical aid. She won’t listen to disagreements of going this far...not when the chief is ‘ left behind ’. Light hums escape to break away their silence, mostly wanting to ignore these protests. A stubborn investigator he was though something about it was admirable. Her own devotion into helping Pokemon already matches with a JUSTICE MINDSET for everyone’s sake. The cries of these creatures who originated from another place...yet he denies any assistance to putting them at ease. Wasn’t it both their task to deal with them, without the use of force? Sighing softly, eyes closed themselves as she finishes in bandaging up those injuries quite content at her work. There still lies some displeasure of remaining alone even if these ULTRABEAST’S APPEARANCE takes a toll of her energy somehow.
GLOVED HANDS GRASP HER PARTNER’S TIGHTLY almost frightened about what he might think about these thoughts. ❛ It would help to assist you with the ULTRABEASTS than letting me stay behind...I worry for you, Looker. Won’t you permit me to accompany you next time? I assure you, I’m perfectly well to--- ❜

And then the diety shoves a slice into the human’s mouth.
“I can’t believe he likes pineapple on pizza....” Says the guy who occasionally squeezes tamato berry juice onto his pizza for the Extra Spice.

Send ✓ for me to come up with a Pokemon team for your muse. NOT ACCEPTING!
Ok so this team isn’t gonna be competitive focused but instead focused around Interpol utility.
Klefki! Ability: Prankster
Looker probably has a lot of keys to deal with, and Klefki is right for the job! Not to mention that this pokemon is pretty dang good at lockpicking as well, allowing Looker to infiltrate places with ease. Prankster is also a fantastic ability for utility, allowing Klefki to easily hinder targets, or put up a few defensive walls faster than normal to mitigate damage.
Mienshao! Ability: Inner Focus
Given that Croagunk is either retired or passed, I figured another fighting type would be helpful for tough situations. Meinshao is a great fighter, one with a fighting style that might throw off some other pokemon. Not to mention that the stronger ones can become Aura Sensitive (it learns Aura Sphere at lvl 70), meaning that it may be able to detect things that looker can’t.
Reunclius! Ability: Magic Guard
Reunclius is a pure psychic type, and a bulky one at that! Given how powerful psychic abilities can get, Looker should enjoy having one on his side. Psychic can easily apprehend multiple perps at once, of course. It also has access to a lot of utility movies, and even Future Sight! Magic Guard is probably the best ability for the job (with a close second in Regenerator, but that’s a hidden ability); Given that it prevents both hazards and status afflictions like poison and burn from harming it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it also was immune to some automatic traps.
Galvantula! Ability: Compound Eyes
I assume that Looker initially would get this lil guy as a Joltik, maybe even by accident given how these things like to eat up electricity. As a Joltik, it probably was able to disable electronic locks without too much hassle, helping Looker get in places with ease similar to Klefki. As a Galvantula, it still probably retains the same skills, but now has even more utility with access to moves like Sticky Web (though Joltik still could learn Electroweb, Spider Web, and String Shot). Electric types have great utility with technology already; an electric type with a bunch of trapping/snaring moves is even better!
Noivern! Ability: Infiltrator
The Noivern line has fantastic hearing, especially adapted to sonar, which is already extremely useful with various missions. Heck, with the right technology, Looker might even be able to hear what Noivern is hearing and eavesdrop on a conversation from far away! Not to mention this pokemon is pretty darn big, meaning that Looker could use this pokemon as a rideable flying type. Infiltrator is definitely a great ability in battle, but may also mean that Noivern is able to get past foes without being detected by the average pokemon, which is definitely a bonus! Given it’s exceptional hearing, it is also great during night-time battles, traveling, and infiltration.
Manectric! Ability: Lightning Rod
The last pokemon is reserved for a doggo of some type, one with a good nose that can sniff out evidence and crime! Although I could definitely see him with a Herdier or Stoutland, I think it’s too hard to pass up one Manectric’s Lightning Rod ability. Being able to negate an entire move type from an enemy, suspect, or perp is just too good to pass up, and it can definitely hold it’s own in battle, getting access to Electric, Fire, and Ice and Dark type moves to cover most threats, as well as some basic utility moves such as Thunder Wave and Roar.

There had been a lot on Nate’s mind recently. Being a new recruit to this top secret UB task force was... something. Alien pokemon, a whole different dimension, the possibility of even different people... it was bit much to take in. A lot of the time, when he wasn’t on some sort of mission with the task force (or occasionally being asked to lead an investigation on a random group of pokemon smugglers), he often found himself scoring through files, trying to pick up as much information he could on the ultra beasts, ultra space, and wormholes as he could find. Yet somehow he didn’t have access to previous case files. He would have needed to get clearance from the Director for this information, but after his last incident with the Director, Nate would rather clean all the facility toilets than get permission from him, even if he was still curious.
It wasn’t until now that he had a lucky chance at actually reading those files. Nate was supposed to meet Looker in his office, but it seemed that his superior was running late, so he let himself in. Sitting himself down at a chair across from his desk, Nate couldn’t help but notice a new file, a rather small one at that laying on the desk. Curiosity getting the better of him, he took the file, opening it up.
Immediately he found himself sucked in, his eyes quickly reading over the pages. UB-05: Glutton. Looker seemed to be one of the agents in this one, along with two other agents: one retired, the other was dead. Not surprising, given that these missions were rather risky, and what Nate read about UB-05 was that it was one of the most dangerous ones out there. What surprised him, however, was one small paragraph:
Due to the apparent attraction Ultra Beasts have to beings laden with Ultra Energy, our team was advised to bring a Faller along with our team. The Faller’s main task was to lure the UB to designated, allowing the other agents to take advantage of the UB’s distracted state by ambushing it. However, the Faller was to be not informed of this strategy in order to ensure the Faller’s cooperation.
Nate could feel his hands tremble as he tried to process this information. Fallers, ones like Anabel and the Alolan Champion, as well as a few other colleagues in the task force. They were..... bait?
He honestly didn’t even realize that Looker had entered the room.
