hey all !! so this is my lovely child rita. she grew up in germany for most of her childhood but moved on over to the states with her family when she was around sixteen years old. growing up, rita was always the perfect child. she got the best grades she possibly could and obeyed every whim and request her parents had for her. both her parents were quite pleased when she decided to major in law after she graduated high school
however, during her freshmen year her life took a drastic turning point. at one of your typical frat parties she met a guy and it was the first time she felt a strong attraction to someone. they began chatting each other up and things went really fast from there. they started dating fairly quickly and only a year into their relationship he decided to propose and of course, rita said yes. this would be the first instance her parents became extremely disappointed in her. over time, her personality began to change. her fiance helped her find her confidence and she quickly built up a strong demeanor, living for herself instead of others. ( im totally putting a wanted connection in for her husband fyi !! )
the pair wanted to wait till she graduated to get married, but yet again a year into their engagement they got impatient and had an impromptu vegas wedding. for the longest time, they were incredibly happily. after they were official rita moved out of her dorm room and into his apartment and continued her studies. she graduated with top grades and began to intern at a law firm.
by the time rita was officially working for the law firm, she began to notice her husband acting quite strange. they had a few financial troubles, but they were still somehow getting by, and slowly rita began to feel suspicious. after a few months of this going on she decided to question him. it didnt take much to make him confess. her husband explained how for quite some time, he’s been working for some questionable individuals. long story short, he was involved with a well-known criminal group. one that he was practically born into. he told her he was afraid she would have left him if she knew the truth, and that he tried to get away from this life but it was a difficult task to accomplish. much to his surprise was very accepting of his lifestyle and promised she would stay with him and attempt to help him get away from this lifestyle
it wasnt long after she made that promise that her husband disappeared from her life. she spent the next year of her life looking for him, getting herself into massive debt trying to find her missing husband. due to his record, the police were not helpful in finding him at all. eventually, rita had to give up on looking for him. in order to protect her career, it was advised to her that she have an annulment and separate her life from his. it took her a long time to decide, but eventually she gave in and moved to alder to start her new life. it’s been five years since the incident and the whole situation has made rita quite cold and distant. the only thing she cares about is her job and how well she can succeed.
due to all the debt she accumulated over the years, rita represents a lot of shady people who are in no way innocent, but they’re all filthy rich. the guilt of it all no longer bothers her, as long as they can pay her fees she’s quite happy. however, on the side rita does take a lot of cases for free -- to those she knows in her gut are innocent.

so basically. this boy has been apart of a gang since he was a weeee lad. at first basically, it wasn’t (kinda) his fault like he didn’t have a fam, his momma died in a car accident and so he had to basically live off his own and he took to the streets and theft to live.
one day he got caught stealing from a gang (woops) quite a lot of stuff that would’ve probably helped the kid out for most of his life, honestly.
he was caught !!!
so basically he had to work for the gang until that sum was paid up and he really only got like 1/1101293392th of a pay every time.
finally !! !!! maybe abt late teens/early 20′s it was almost all paid up, he just had to do one more mission and he was excited he was so close to leaving.
this one last mission, he fucked up so bad. he made the wrong decision. lost all the money, got the gang leaders daughter and him in life/death situation (see scarlett)
he’s now in a life debt with the guy (literally dont think he was going to be able to leave anyways, he was far too deep into the gang at this point anyways you kno)
so since he’s been stuck in a gang, doing very criminal acts and such that he very much does not want to be apart of. (FUN.)
the reason he’s here in alder is because he’s been the one to be put in charge of finding scarlett and bringing her back to her dad !!! he doesn’t plan on staying long, obviously. he’s Tired and just wants to get it all over with bc its been a wild goose chase but it brought him here to the town.

jackson grew up in a rather wealthy lifestyle, he always got what he wanted and due to that he’s grown up to be awfully cocky and full of himself. he was also one of those typical popular kids in high school and he took a lot of pride in that. it was the same scenario when he went off to college, majoring in business because that’s what the family wanted so he couldnt really argue, but he didn’t really care either way. college was the best years of his life really.
when he graduated he did decide to pull his life together but due to the fact that he was handed a manager position in his father’s company immediately after he graduated no one in the workplace took him seriously. despite the fact that jax is actually quite intelligent, nobody actually trusted him in the company and constantly doubted him. eventually, jax gave up on trying all together and nobody cares enough to do or say anything about it, especially his father.
since then jax pretty much spends his life partying and sleeping around. he also tends to get himself into a lot of relationships and has been unfaithful quite a few times. he’s so lost and out of place with life that he can never commit himself to anything for long, no matter how hard he tries. another thing about jax, he will tell someone he loves them and not actually mean it, but the moment he truly loves somebody he would go out of his way to deny it -- even if it results in hurting their feelings. he has a tendency to hurt those he cares about a lot. he also lies almost on the daily and has gotten quite good at it.

born in los angeles, california, jackie grew up very comfortably; both parents are lawyers and during the clinton administration, jackie’s father served as the us ambassador of france. she was nine when they first moved, and was seventeen when her father’s run overseas was finished, and being back home was an interesting transition for her, since she felt like the odd man out considering she’d fallen in love with the french way of life, i guess? she didn’t really want to leave when the time came, but it wasn’t entirely up to her (her least favorite president is w. bush, 3 guesses why lmao)
instead of going back to la, they moved to alder heights, since her father wanted to continue pursuing a career in government/politics, and it was much closer to dc than la was. her two younger sisters adjusted to life back home a lot easier than jackie did; she wound up completing the last little bit of high school online, since she’d had an accelerated course schedule overseas (she loved school) and would’ve rather been eaten by wolves than go back to public school tbh. she started classes at georgetown uni (rich parents lmao) at seventeen and for awhile, her major was in political science since she had every intention to follow in her father’s footsteps, he was her hero after all
and then somewhere along the line, she realized she didn’t really like political science, she liked having an opinion on and discussing politics, so she moved over into mass communications and her parents weren’t thrilled at all, they totally thought they were going to have a vance legacy and be able to start some family dream team thing and being the oldest, they expected her to be the one to fulfill this, and it definitely started a few fights but they eventually shut up about it just because arguing with her is arguing w a brick wall tbh — they are still slowly coming around, they’re not crazy about it but they still support her, things are Tense, fun times
so she graduated, went on and got her masters, blah blah, fast forward to where jackie finds the job of her dreams at an unnamed, v popular magazine (it’s unnamed bc i want it to be lmao, givE ME TIME but if you need a comparison, think cosmo) and she chased after it hard, like all she wanted to do was be a writer and after spending roughly two years as an assistant, she got promoted to a writer and she loved it, absolutely loved it. got to write about the things she was passionate about, loved the people she worked with, she was living the Dream
and after a few years of just really, really enjoying her job her higher-ups were like “hey, we’re gonna promote you if you want” and in jackie’s mind she was like, hell yeah, more responsibility, more control, all the things she loves tbh and she took the job as the lifestyle department editor since it was broad and encompassed a lot of the stuff she’d enjoyed writing for and of course, Loved it...to a point
jackie is married to her job, and it’s highkey unhealthy tbh, she’s very very hard on herself and now that she’s moved up in the hierarchy of things she’s beginning to see what they ask of their employees and it’s not always stuff she agrees with? it’s a lot of pressure and she’s beginning to fall out of love with all of it in general, the writing, being responsible for stuff, etc and part of her is like fuck this, i’m over it but at the same time, she’s forcing herself to stick w it because she wants to prove to her parents she can too see their successes in the career path she chose
