FATHER Hadad Rameek
FC Jalaluddin Hassan
AGE 68
Hadad’s marriage to Esmé was purely for political reasons on his side, as he was determined to outshine his two older brothers. Despite being gifted with an abundant talent in magic, he wasn't deemed a worthy heir for his own coven, citing that he was too violent and cruel. Instead, the second son was chosen because he was wiser beyond his age, according to the elders. Frustrated, he left his coven and joined the Rameek Coven and worked through their ranks, proving himself useful and indispensable.
Hadad was cold and calculated, even with his own family members. When he learnt that Aldemar had inherited his talent in magic, he was elated and groomed his first son to be the perfect heir that would soon replace him one day. But Aldemar was too much like his mother, his heart was too soft and he was too kind. The same went for his second son, which frustrated him. His first daughter, Suhila might have his temperament, but she wasn’t able to communicate well with the spirits and in tune with her own magic. Instead of wasting his time on his other children, he focused solely on Aldemar and neglected his other children.
So, when he learnt of Aldemar’s situation, of who he had been seeing behind his back, Hadad was furious, threatening Aldemar not to return or he would personally see to it that his son would not see the next sunrise.
MOTHER Esmé Rameek
FC Ida Nerina
AGE 63
Despite being in a political marriage with Hadad, Esmé had learnt to love Hadad. Hadad had never raised his hand against her, nor had he ever insulted her in the way her father did her mother. So, despite Hadad’s cold temperament towards her, she liked to think that there were times that he had opened up to her when they were alone, displaying such warmth that was only meant for her. After all, their marriage had given her three children, to whom she loved dearly.
The rose-tinted view of her husband shattered when Hadad drove Aldemar out of their house, despite her begging him to rescind his order and saved their firstborn instead. When Hadad refused, Esmé finally understood that her love for Hadad had been a waste but was too afraid to leave their marriage in fear of her other children’s safety. When Aldemar reached out to her and her other children, Esmé started to hatch a plan to move to Fenrirswood, careful not to tip her husband about her leaving and taking her children with her.
SIBLINGS
Elijah Rameek + Suhila Rameek (twins)
AGE 34
Elijah and Suhila were fraternal twins and were complete opposite of one another, like sun and moon. While Suhila was calm and level-headed, sometimes to the point of cold and calculating like their father, Elijah was passionate and vocal. The only common thing they had with each other was how much they adored their brother and would follow him everywhere when they were younger. Aldemar was their role model, their hero, especially when their brother willing took any punishment that their father had for them. Suhila would always accompany Aldemar to the training ground, where she would ask Aldemar to teach her things that the elders would only teach the next heir in hopes of appeasing their father. Elijah, on the other hand, had no such interest, and spent most of his time with their mother, learning about healing and defence magic instead of offence.
When Aldemar left, Suhila couldn’t help but resent her brother, especially now their father’s attention was on her to carry out the duties that Aldemar had left behind. The resentment continued to build whenever she was being compared to Aldemar, who, in his father’s eyes, was the perfect heir until his betrayal. She felt betrayed too, thinking that Aldemar had chosen his lover over his family. Elijah was hurt when Aldemar left, of course, but he knew the reason for his brother’s departure. He tried to assuage Suhila’s anger towards their brother, sharing the letters that Aldemar had sent to them, letters that he managed to slip from their father’s study before it was destroyed. Elijah promised to find a way to leave Nottinghamshire and be with Aldemar in Fenrirswood.
Sati was the product of Hadad’s affair and was brought into the main family after she turned five years old, separated from her mother, due to her oracle ability. Hadad had planned to use her as a tool against the werewolves and humans that had banded together against the Rameek coven, but Esmé shut down the idea swiftly. She accepted the child like her own and raised her with as much love as she could give so Sati wouldn’t be ostracised due to her status. Aldemar followed her example, embracing Sati with open arms and sheltered her from their father as best as he could. Elijah followed soon after, and Suhila was the last to embrace her.
Sati’s oracle was eerily accurate, though she promised to only tell Aldemar about them to avoid Hadad’s watchful eyes. That way Aldemar was able to filter what information was shared with their father and their elders. The arrangement was short-lived, however, when Aldemar was turned away and left the rest of the Rameek children to fend for themselves. Sati became withdrawn and only spoke when spoken to, and never about her oracles, adamant to keep true to her promise with Aldemar.
