Walden wasn’t one for half-assing anything. That notion left him hesitant in regards to announcing the betrothal between him and Alecto. Although it was a mutual agreement between the two, he wasn’t about to have her parents be the ones to make things known. Instead, he had opted for doing things the “proper” way. Purchasing a ring, asking her father for her hand in marriage, and setting aside a time for an intimate dinner by the ocean.
It was a bit much in his opinion but he was still set on proving he was serious about things even though he was aware their agreement meant he didn’t need to try as hard. It wasn’t even a matter of trying at this point - simply his appreciating being able to make Alecto laugh or crack a smile. He felt most at ease when with her. A rather impressive feat if he was being honest since two and a half decades were spent trying to shut people out.
“You are gorgeous, you know that?” He asked and reached forward to take hold of Alecto’s hand. He said it all too often but it was true. They were several paces away from the restaurant they had just finished dining in. It still didn’t feel like the most ideal location but it would have to do since the other options would have involved being too close to wandering muggle eyes.
