s-loweâ:
Sinistra made a face at Walden, her eyes dancing between him and the bouquet in his hands. âI hope those arenât for your wife.â She commented, taking a step closer to better inspect the flowers. There were far too many lilies in the bouquet to be something to bring to a loved one, along with chrysanthemums? âThese are flowers you bring to a funeral, everybody knows that.â Sinistra said matter-of-factly, arms folding over her chest, âHope you can return them, Alecto certainly wonât be happy. A bouquet of red roses would have been a simpler option.â
â
âThe manor,â He murmured. âWeâve been cycling through ââ It wasnât any of Sinistraâs business as it was but the rest of the thought was lost to the comment about roses. âThose are far too simple,â He scoffed. âOne or two would be sufficient but a whole bouquet is overkill. Besides, the chrysanthemums are a sign of good well-being.â

Rita looked down to see what he was drinking and thatâs when she saw the ring and remembered that she was upset with him. âOh, so you are suddenly interested about me, huh?â She then asked, rasing a brow. âI donât want to talk to you tonight, you are an ass and a horrible friend to me. So go find your wife and leave me aloneâ she said before turning her head and faced to the front, looking at the bartender who quickly came back with her drink. Admittedly, it looked very promising.Â
â
âAdmittedly well deserved,â Walden grimaced. He should have said something about having married Alecto but it was easiest to simply keep quiet and have minimal shame in showing off his wedding band. âAn ass for certain, but please tell me you at least heard it from Alecto. I had planned to...â He trailed off and made a face. âThis is going to turn into slandering me in the paper is it?â
Where: Alectoâs Flat
When: 23rd April, Early Evening
Who: Alecto, Walden, Rodolphus, and BellatrixÂ
Alecto was really starting to wonder if sheâd made the mistake by suggesting they broke the announcement of their engagement to the Lestranges over dinner. It had been her way of protecting Walden. She was sure that between herself, and Rodolphus they could hold back Bellatrix. Although, she was sure about her friend was going to rage regardless. But she was hoping that her flat was going to survive. Although, she wasnât going to need it for much longer. Once she began Mrs Macnair sheâd have a big manor to roam around in. If they made it to the wedding anyway.Â
âI hope this works out wellâŠâ She murmured, offering a glass of red wine that sheâd poured for them as a bit of liquid confidence. She bit her lip, as she looked at him. âBecause it would be rather unfortunate for my best friend to kill you before the wedding.â She mused, shaking her head. âI told them to come for about 8âŠ.. so they should be here soon.â

Walden wasn't easy to scare and had taken pride in being one of the âcapableâ death eaters before the warâs end. There were few things that unnerved him but Bellatrix Lestrange had become the most recent addition to the particularly short list. He still wasnât certain if he was joking or not in having asked if knives would need to be removed from the cutlery for the evening.
âAs do I,â Walden exhaled and accepted the glass of wine. Liquid courage would likely do little in easing his nerves. At the very least, it would leave him holding his tongue instead of immediately reacting if something unsavory got said. âI can give some grace since it is warranted given the situation but her approach in slinging insults has been⊠undesirable at best as of recent.â

Walden & Open Diagon Alley
âYou know, itâs rude to stare,â Walden murmured. Carrying flowers was not something he was regularly in the habit of doing but the bouquet had caught his attention and he figured it wouldnât hurt to throw the small gesture in his wifeâs direction once home. âI was gone what- a week, if that? Would have extended staying home a little longer if work hadnât thrown my assignments at a completely incompetent sod.â

Rita had been sweet talking one of the bartenders, her slender body leaned agaist the bar, displaying her cleavage and pretending to find everything he was saying so amusing, just for the sake of a bit of information. âYou are so funnyâ she smiled, that fake but convincing smile. âAnd Iâll take you up on that drink, handsomeâ she purred before watching the man leave to prepare her drink. It was then when she noticed someone looking at her. âWhat? Donât look at me like that⊠he was funny⊠or sort ofâ she hummed softly.
âThat smile doesnât fool me,â Walden chuckled. It might have early on into their friendship but he had reached a point of recognizing most of her expressions. âNow what were you trying to get out of him? Canât have been anything interesting with how quick you were to call my look out.â
âYou know I think you look like an old room mate from the back of your head. I was about to pull on that lovely silk robe and then I stopped myself like a proper lady.â A grin fell over her lip as she sought conversation where she could find it. âAnd Iâm sure you should be thanking me for that.â
Marlene needed to talk, needed to be busy. Nights like these were difficult. She knew her family was probably somewhere in the room. She knew her mother was probably sat at some table thinking how radiant her oldest would have looked, thinking how her oldest would have thrived and made conversation and connection. Her brother was probably in deep debate like their father. Wherever they were, they were thinking of Carys - not Marlene. âBut to be fair, darling,â back to rambling with drunken delight, âyou really do look quite a lot a like.â

âThank Salazar you didnât,â Walden shrugged. âCanât say my wife would have appreciated that.â Admittedly, he had yet to see Alecto get properly jealous but he was still appreciating being able to refer to her as his wife so any excuse to bring that up was one he was willing to take.
âI canât tell if you are being sarcastic or not,â He added with a shake of his head. âBut either way, I am feeling charitable enough to accept it as a compliment.
Walden & Open Ministry Spring Gala
The only thought on Waldenâs mind for the evening was the regret of not having brought a flask or downed a few drinks before attending the gala. Truth be told, he would have preferred being home in significantly less layers than he was wearing for the evening. A drink in one hand, book in the other, and just Alecto as company - an ideal he would have all too happily accepted over being stuck in the atrium with coworkers he had nothing in common with.
Luck wasnât on his side though - more like his having agreed to go long enough to be seen - so he was stuck lazily looking over the group of people in attendance. He could force pleasantries but keeping a neutral expression over his features was proving to be a challenge. It was all too easy to slip back into the look of displeasure at being surrounded by people he wanted nothing to do with.
A drink proved necessary but he quickly regretted the decision. Nothing up to his standards. It wasnât all that surprising but he would have hoped the Ministry would have provided something stronger since they willingly decided to have the community under one roof. âI wouldnât bother,â He sighed when someone neared the table he had snagged his glass from. âTheyâve got the cheap stuff out.â

Where: The Daily Prophet, Ritaâs office
Being who she was came with certain privileges, not that it has always been like that, but it was now and that was what mattered. Rita prefered to work at home, there was something about this place that it was rather unsettling, very noisy and people were either very judgemental or too friendly. But this particular day, Rita had to come to the office for some pointless meeting.Â
A cup with her favorite tea was resting next to her as she typed quickly on her typewriter. She was in the middle of an inspiration streak until that was interrupted by the door opening. She continued writing until she finished the sentence and only then she looked up and through her glasses. âOh boyâŠâ she mused as she took her cup of tea and sipped it, her eyes fixed on them.
âAt least I knocked,â Walden chuckled. He wasnât usually one for showing up at Ritaâs place of work but there was an important piece of business to get handled and she was the only staff member he could trust with making sure the news wasnât properly buried or written in a way that would turn into his scoffing at it and regretting to go to the paper altogether.
âDo you have time for me to call in a personal favor?â He cocked his head to the side then raised an eyebrow at her. âThereâs a wedding in the works with the engagement not having hit the news.â He waved a hand dismissively. âNothing over the top but theyâd prefer not seeing it get covered by the classifieds section.â
Walden & @mrlestrangeâ Rodolphusâ office
The knock on the door had been quick, with Walden entering once given the go ahead. He hated taking on the role of messenger but the memo was something that was best handled in person than sent via scrawled note. âMy apologies for the disruption,â He sighed then set a piece of parchment down on Rodolphusâ desk.
âYour name popped up in one of my clientâs alibis,â It was a particularly odd way of describing the people he came across at his job but he was at the Ministry so that meant needing to seem professional. Client was a far nicer word than the ones that had gone through his mind upon reading into things. âSaid they were with you the entire day the German task force claims to have apprehended an individual that looks like them. Muggleborn.â The word was accompanied by a scoff. âUnfortunately your initials and signature are required confirm or deny that as fact, leaving me with no choice but to have to inconvenience both of us by checking in on the matter.â There was a brief pause where he cautiously eyed Rodolphus. âUnless you would prefer having to state it in front of me and the German Wizarding Congress during the gentlemanâs hearing.â
Walden & @ofxcarrowsxâ Seaside, Kent
Walden wasnât one for half-assing anything. That notion left him hesitant in regards to announcing the betrothal between him and Alecto. Although it was a mutual agreement between the two, he wasnât about to have her parents be the ones to make things known. Instead, he had opted for doing things the âproperâ way. Purchasing a ring, asking her father for her hand in marriage, and setting aside a time for an intimate dinner by the ocean.
It was a bit much in his opinion but he was still set on proving he was serious about things even though he was aware their agreement meant he didnât need to try as hard. It wasnât even a matter of trying at this point - simply his appreciating being able to make Alecto laugh or crack a smile. He felt most at ease when with her. A rather impressive feat if he was being honest since two and a half decades were spent trying to shut people out.
âYou are gorgeous, you know that?â He asked and reached forward to take hold of Alectoâs hand. He said it all too often but it was true. They were several paces away from the restaurant they had just finished dining in. It still didnât feel like the most ideal location but it would have to do since the other options would have involved being too close to wandering muggle eyes.
Walden & Open The Leaky Cauldron
âIf I wanted small talk, I would have accepted the dinner invite from the man who managed my estate before I was of age,â Walden grimaced then took a long sip of whiskey. âI would apologize for being blunt but you didnât take the hint of the disinterested look and moment of silence.â It truly should have been enough and frankly, he wasnât in the mood for dealing with anyone. Alecto was an exception but he wasnât willing to take his bad mood back home with him or to her.
đ»- For something bad/mischievous you did as a child or teen that your parents donât know about
"I think âmy entire existenceâ sums my answer up nicely," He scoffs. "Being orphaned at age eleven has given me too many things that could be said.â
lestrange-oneâ:
Bellatrix watched as Waldenâs fingertips traced his chin and the hair that lay on it, as though looking for whatever it was had made him attractive enough in Alectoâs eyes to steal her away. She didnât see it, but that wasnât shocking. Her attraction to Rodolphus and Alecto, while she could admit that they were visually appealing, had only grown with the chemistry and respect they shared with one another. And of course that meant she understood that the desire to spend your life tied to another person could come from more than looks, but she was sure her best friend wouldnât settle for somebody she found repulsive. Not when she had a choice. âYou are at least capable of making some good decisions then.â He was certainly not the worst pick, but that didnât mean she was happy about it.
Small talk? He was certainly brave, or at the very least persistent. Most people would have given up and accepted their place on the long list of people that Bellatrix Lestrange barely seemed to tolerate. Better than being on her personal hit list. Once upon a time that had been a death sentence. âNothing new to note,â She answered vaguely, âStill at the ministry. Rodolphus is still working with the charities, trying to make this new world better for everybody.â Walden was surely aware that the clipped tone such news was delivered in was practised repression of her real views. âDo you have anything more interesting to tell me Macnair?â That would surely be interesting to answer in itself.
â
âYouâre not the first to say that,â He admitted with a chuckle. His position at the Ministry had proven of use to him since the connections he made during the war had proven of use to others. There were a few cases that he weighed in on with a strong enough opinion to sway things into a positive outcome.
âOf course,â He nodded. The answer was vague but not vague enough to earn his suspicions. âI suppose the same can be said for me. Still at the Ministry, still donating to the occasional worthy cause. I presume you know how that goes,â It was for appearanceâs sake and to keep the man that had maintained the estate until he was of age from harping him. âNothing truly of note with me.â Walden shook his head. âUnless growing bored with the Ministry counts.â
