5:57. she said she’d be at his house by six. the drive took her less time than she remembered. she sat in her car for the next three minutes, trying to figure out exactly what she should say. and after those three minutes? she still had nothing. max slowly got out of her car and walked up to his house (hoping he hadn’t just seen her waiting in her car). she made the walk up to the house, her heart continuing to pound faster and faster. max planted herself in front of the door, knocked twice and waited. she was almost startled at how soon the door opened after she knocked. “hi,” she breathed out and looked up at him.
