“So…” he started, the confusion blatant in the brief word alone. “So what you’re telling me is that…you’ve seen men dressed as cowboys often? How many costume parties do you find yourself at? Because I’m only here for the snacks.”
And on the contrary, it wasn’t a scene he thought he’d ever be a witness to, although he also didn’t think people still dressed up as such cliche costumes. Being a mild “party pooper” himself, he didn’t dress up at all. His two requirements for actually putting on a costume were, one, it absolutely had to be Halloween, or two, if it wasn’t halloween, it was in the privacy of his own bedroom. The reasons behind such are obvious.
Plus, he wasn’t exactly there to party anyway. It was more of a bribe mixed with a promise of free food–and just like such a vast majority of other people, he, too, was a sucker for free food. He didn’t need a costume to eat.
“How many parties like this do you go to that aren’t on Halloween?” He inquired, a small pause ensuing in order to munch on a small handful of chips. “Oh, and by the way, I’m Alex.”
🏈 」 HE LAUGHED OUT LOUD, shaking his own head, realizing how ridiculous his own statement was. “so you’re telling me, you’ve never come across a man dressed in a cowboy’s outfit spraying cologne at passing customers? man, where am i going to have experienced such things --- and not just once, but multiple times,” he played along, regardless of whether the male in front appreciated his jokes or not. of course, the general idea was referenced to a tv show he had seen many years back, but it wasn’t his fault that he came up with something outrageous for a ‘first interaction’ type conversation. the two had actually seen a male dressed in a cowboy’s costume with a little too much cologne on him pass by, so it stirred up memories.
to think of it, danny had more than enough encounters with the so called, ‘crazy parties’. a well-known stripper, it was common for him to travel around, visit many different parties. in fact, the parties he did attend were costumed and were very much inappropriate. however, that little information was not going to be shared. “i’m just saying, they are around more than you think...” he nodded his head, grabbing a couple of chips to munch on himself. “i don’t know, aren’t there things like themed frat parties? i’ve been to a couple... um... themed house warming parties?” he shrugged, realizing he had no good comeback to make. “i’m really not the party type though, and i guess because i’m not one... i’ve lost way too many girls that way.” good, the reason sounded believable; or at least for the time being. “my name is daniel, danny for short. so alex, you’re telling me --- you’ve come this far just for the snacks? there’s snacks everywhere, so why here?”
