Your Presence (Thank You!)
In this world where friends oft come and go even at distance the special ones stay near and in my heart of hearts I shall forever know how blessed I am to feel your presence here Quickie thank you poem for three of my favorite talented friends here, who all just happened to drop by at almost exactly the same time a few minutes ago. Yes, even with the pain of recent dental work an old poet is smiling. Special thank you love and hugs to @sherrylephotography @aubriestar and @alexandraswritingblock Oh heck, while I’m at it, hugs and love to everyone I’m blessed to call my friend here, Mike <3
5 nice things + 8 for 8
And no I did not steal the title from @definegodliness (this man is lying). ;) Thank you Mark, who along with sanddollarpoems, @prasannawrites, @expoundingspark and @goneahead kindly invited me on one or both of these. Although I’m probably famous, or more likely notorious for being anti social (media) here, I think I’ll play. This might be fun. 5 nice things about me: 1: I love to write, after 20 plus years of writing (nearly 11 on Tumblr), it’s a little more difficult, yet the love is still there. 2: I make people laugh, especially at work. 3: While I can be whinny, I’m rarely if ever mean. 4: Back to writing, I especially love my inner writer/child. He’s very kind and loving even when I’m not feeling it. 5: This last one is kind of challenging, being very emotional, along with knowing sorrow a little too well, I’m also on a first name basis with joy and beauty. This combination I believe helps me to be understanding of and compassionate toward others. The rules for this tag game stated: Once you get this you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly, and send it to 10 of your favorite mutuals (non-negotiable). SPREAD POSITIVITY! ..and now 8 for 8: 1. Favorite Color(s) : Purple and Blue 2. Currently Reading: Re Reading some old Thich Nhat Hanh books 3. Last Song: Annie 4. Last Series: How The Universe Works, I guess 5. Last Movie: It’s been a while, but as the world’s oldest living child, in the past couple of years, my favorite would have to be Moana. 6. Sweet, Savory, Spicy: Spicy, though not quite so much in my old age 7. Craving: Now that I have dentures, I would KILL (metaphorically) for Cashews 8. Currently working on: Trying to be kind to everyone including myself Now for tagging, makes evile grin. No pressure, please feel free to play either, neither, or both. I tag : @aubriestar, @petrow, @alexandraswritingblock, @sherrylephotography, @oddman-the-oldman, @chucklingpecan, @takingstockofwhatmattersmost, @suzyhazelwood, @betterthannonfiction, and while I think of one more, I tag everyone who tagged me and didn’t already do both, as well as anyone else who just wants to play. Love to all, Mike <3
Sometimes we are all we Have
Sometimes we are all we have when life’s blue skies turn turbulent grey In these moments we can be enough to chase those brooding clouds away Sometimes we will walk with others though often our journey will be alone There will indeed be days of darkness and the only light we’ll follow is our own Sometimes we know we’re bathed in love idyllic hours spent simply enjoying living In others we’ll be called upon to serve remembering our love is a gift for giving Sometimes we are all we have when from our chains we must be freed Realizing each link was forged by us sometimes we will find we are all we need Inspired by a conversation with my dear young friend Sandra Alexandra. @alexandraswritingblock and @alexandrasreadingblock. Love to all!
Jupiter & Cancer :)
Jupiter- If you had to pick one color to use for an entire week, what color would you choose?
Once, a long time ago, my friends and I were gathering outside to hang and roam about the neighbourhood (a looooong time ago), when one of my friends appeared wearing a blue cap, a blue vest, blue slacks, blue socks and blue shoes, and all in the exact same shade. To be honest we laughed our asses off at the sight of this blue monstrosity. Called him a Humana Box(*) Smurf for the rest of the evening. My favourite part was when another friend zipped his vest down to check his shirt underneath. Blue. Same shade.
So before I answered the question, I wanted you to know this because it gave me a good chuckle again.
My answer, by the way, is also blue. Not because it’s my favourite colour, but because the question indicates I can “use” it for an entire week, so I’d paint the sky blue. Fall is not my thing. Too grey. Too much rain.
Cancer- How do you want to be remembered?
If ever there’d be someone who’d truly see me, I hope they’ll think of me fondly once I pass. I hope they will then have seen my battles, my inner rages, and my strength, and that they’ll know why I am calm and soft on the outside. And if they stick around after having seen the light, and even more so the darkness I carry within me. I just hope they remember how I loved them. And I hope that I could offer them the same.
On a side note, I don’t believe one can be truly remembered, only the parts that resonated with the ones left behind. But then the memory of another is like an avatar of one’s own frame of reference. Maybe I’ll write something that lives on beyond my own death some day, but a brainchild and a name can hardly shape a memory of me. Especially because the writer part of myself is just that, a part of me, not nearly close to the person in totality. Even here where I’m sometimes tempted to show little snippets of my personality, people have no idea who I am. For instance, my Memelord self hardly shines through in poetry.

(*) The Humana Box is a big blue metal box used by the organization Humana to collect clothes for the needy. They’re found in every city and town where I live.
