Tourette's and Rude People

So I was sitting in class yesterday, and this girl behind me taps my shoulder. I turn toward her to listen, and she says "do you have ticks?" I nod, "yeah, I have Tourette's" It's not something I'm ashamed of, it's a part of me. But this chick goes, "yeah, I can tell." Like...I'm not really offended by it, I don't give a shit what people think of me really. But like...really?

Anyone have any experience with non drug related treatments for Tourette's? What's worked for you, what hasn't? What have you tried? My parents are against any drug treatment for it (frustratingly...I'd be willing to try something, especially on my bad days...) But because of that, drug treatments are not an option for me currently Any advice?...

CBIT (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tics) is the foremost non-drug treatment for tics, and I’ve heard really amazing things about it! Try to find someone trained in that type of therapy in your area. :]
