So I'm reminiscing about the production of Yeomen I was in. I played Phoebe and the Meryll family decided to play it like we were actually a family of sorcerers living on Tower Green. Thus why Phoebe knows so surely that Fairfax isn't actually a sorcerer. Our Leonard also played the First Yeomen so he came back after he was supposed to be gone. So we figured it where Leonard cast a spell to make sure no one noticed him as a new Yeoman, Sergeant Meryll cast a spell to make sure no one recognized Fairfax, and Phoebe cast a spell to distract Wilfred during "Were I thy bride" as well as intending to cast a spell on him to make him fall out of love with her before their wedding date.
We also had a quiet agreement that the Meryll family was rather disgraced later down the road, which caused them to fall more into the merchant class. As time passed, sorcery became more of an entertainment. Eventually, a descendant of the Meryll line surfaces at the wedding of Alexis Marmaduke and Aline Sangazure: John Wellington Wells.
