Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has embraced a reconciliatory political strategy as he works to secure the support of the nearly two million Kamba voters for President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 elections. Recognizing the significant political influence of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the region, Mutua has made a public call for greater respect for the opposition leader.
Speaking during a leaders' meeting at Maanzoni Lodge in Machakos County, Mutua emphasized the need for unity and mutual respect among political leaders in Ukambani. "I want all of us to accord Kalonzo Musyoka the respect he deserves, because all leaders must be respected as a first step to achieving the political unity everyone in the community is craving for," Dr. Mutua remarked. This call for respect comes at a time when political tensions within the region are running high, and Mutua aims to bridge the divide that exists between the various factions.
A Vision for Bipartisan Unity
Mutua also expressed his hope that Ukambani's leaders would transcend party lines to address the region's longstanding challenges.
