Okay, I had this dream about a cartoon alien and I wanted to write it down before I forgot it.
So the back story for the alien was that he was adopted by human parents who believed he was human. After they adopted him, the aliens left a sign to the humans which was a cute little alien figurine. The humans took that as a sign that the aliens were coming to invade earth.
One day his parents end up in danger and he rips out a whole crater in the earth. When he does this, his parents realize that he’s an alien and they disown him.
Most of the dream takes place years later when the Aiken is back in town, talking with his parents all this time. He’s still a bit young and holding onto all the things he assumed about his childhood.
The dad talks about his persistent unemployment and the alien kid is suddenly like, “I know I’m the reason you lost your job.” (From revealing himself to be an alien). The dad is shocked and doesn’t know what to say.
I wish I could remember most of the conversation but the only other parts I remember in their argument was, firstly, their debate of what the alien figurines meant. The parents think it was a sign that the aliens were gonna destroy them, but the alien son fought back, saying it was a sign aliens would help them (because he’s an alien vigilante or something).
Secondly, one part of the argument was the dad asking why he pretended to be human/trick them if he was always superpowered. (Kind of leading into the invasion theory thing)
And the child says, “You told me I was human. You told me I was your son! I believed you! I believed I was human because you told me that I was!”
I don’t know why, but I woke up with tears in my eyes. This is probably one of those ideas that can be good if you ironed out the kinks.
