honestly I just want a book with Jewish characters that doesn’t act like being Jewish is a huge tragedy that has to be overcome.

right?? or worse, where it’s mentioned once, maybe in the form of a joke that’s usually antisemitic. i mean, there are books i enjoy that have characters whose jewishness is mentioned but not important to the story (nick and norah’s infinite playlist, for example) but i would really like to read about a jewish person whose jewishness is part of them (bonus points for LGBT+)

no problem! if i’m honest i didn’t know much at all about the fancier drinks until i started making them, i’d always been too anxious to go into a coffee shop and attempt to make an order more ‘complicated’ than a filter coffee, but baristas are lovely and willing to explain any of it should you want to know.

as a sidenote what is the difference? also what is a macchiato

from what i’ve heard it’s a different ballgame in italy but the latte i know and serve is about 1:3 espresso to 2:3 steamed milk, with a small amount of frothed milk at the top. the steamed milk is poured into the glass or cup and the espresso is shot through the milk so it looks like this! it’s also common to put flavoured syrups in lattes (caramel, vanilla etc.)

a cappuccino is stronger. espresso is added to the cup and milk is poured in afterwards after having been ‘foamed’ with a steam arm (so the milk is injected with lots of tiny air bubbles). it’s usually poured so that there’s a ring of espresso round the edge (to look pretty and also so the drinker doesn’t get foam all over their face). they look like this and are often dusted with chocolate or cinnamon.

a macchiato is a strong coffee - usually one or two shots of espresso with a dot of foamed milk added to the top (macchiato means ‘stained’!) i also think there’s a starbucks drink called a macchiato, which is totally different (just to confuse things)...

but like, there are a ton of variations. that’s just how i’ve been taught!

it doesn’t matter to the university but it matters to the student bc bank loans tend to have more interest and have to get paid back sooner, whereas government loans are generally more understanding

okay this is the last reply before i give up because i’m just repeating myself and clearly i can’t articulate this point to anyone but myself so lmao w/e i guess i’ll just never know what op meant but

i understand it matters AFTER, when you are paying back the loan. that post’s use of “up front” suggested there was some difference in the INITIAL method of payment, so i was trying to figure out what that difference was, like if other places did monthly installments instead of semester-ly payments or something.
