PUNK DANA SCULLY (SKULLS) ZINE COVERS
SCIENCE GIRL REPORTS V2 your body your rights
it wasn't her first zine, but it was the first one she sold more than five copies of when she heard too many girls talking about never knowing when their period was coming
she got angry enough to do something about it and even though this is her first semester, her first year, science is universal, and she makes three friends
she found the diagram of blood cells from a textbook and spent the night at the copy shop, running out of change for the machines and running to the coffee place next door, she's really proud of the pullout lunar calendar in the back and the list of really good chocolate (and where to find them in this sleepy stupid college town), which was the best taste test for science she'd probably ever get
SCIENCE GIRL REPORTS V7 my heroes
is her proudest achievement yet and a graphic design friend helped her with the layout, and she's proudly selling copies at the biochem club's info booth when a guy with a nose that's a little too big to make him super cute (but he is cute) comes up and asks her about it, entranced by the cover, and she can tell right away he's not there just to flirt like half the guys who've approached her that morning, and they end up talking for half an hour till her shift ends and he offers to buy her lunch but she has class
so he buys a copy and gives her a coffee coaster with his number on it with a smile that unnerves her
SCIENCE GIRL REPORTS V11 what do we know about the universe?
was a collaboration between mulder and his friends who are so knee-deep in conspiracies half the time they meet to discuss this it's a fight, the other half they're talking b-movies (deep space 9 is a favorite) and throwing candy at each other
but mulder is gentle and patient in a way that doesn't make her feel antagonistic when she bares her fangs
and at the end of the meetings it's just them and he tells her he's read your body your rights with a seriousness that makes her agree to go with him to the woods half a state over where a reported alien was sighted three years ago
they end up on more adventures after that that make her giggle to herself in her classes because even though at the end of every week her diary is thick with ink from the unexplained, this is just as much her passion, the smell of chemicals and taking notes from the projector, and they don't know, they can't truly know that last week it was telepathy, the week before it was lightning, the week before they found a werewolf... and it's all science even though it's unnerving and she's here memorizing the names of cells, so she laughs to herself and only he knows
FUGUE FOR LOST PLANETS
he wants to kiss her when she tells him the title she's thought up
he wants to kiss her all the time now and it's a bit unnerving how much they've gone through (the local police department gave them a cell phone so they'd have a direct line) and he's so grateful they still have one year left, because at this point he'd think he'd follow her anywhere
he's saved her second zine, the menstruation one, because the cover is all raw earnestness and he thinks that is what he loves about her the most
