"Greek mythology wasn’t something that Steve knew a lot about. He couldn’t tell you the names of most of the gods or the heroes that served them. Also, he had no idea what any of the weird monsters were called or what any of them did specifically to earn being called monsters. What Steve did know about was that love was rarely found in those stories. And when it was, it was cruelly ripped away. Like that dude who went through the underworld for his lover, only to lose her at the last second, or that lady who turned into a tree because that one god guy wouldn’t stop harassing her. So, while Steve’s love life wasn’t that depressing, he still felt it was a good analogy for his dating history." As long as Steve can remember, his dating life has been horrible, filled with strings of uncaring alphas who only wanted him for sex. That's why when he met Eddie Munson through the dating app Steve thought this relationship would be different, but one bout of accidental catfishing and a flight to Hawkins turns their relationship upside down, taking Steve on a romantic roller coaster of life-changing proportions.
