Born and raised in LA, Alex “Ali” Gonzalez says whenever he would go to his grandma’s house near Highland Park he would be intrigued by the art on her walls—and the graffiti on the way there. Put in art classes by his mother in middle school, and taken to exhibits by his older brother, Ali started painting canvases for fun. Now gaining greater exposure with his mural work, he has painted three walls in the Los Angeles Arts District. This piece on Hewitt St. pays homage to Sade Adu and the band she formed 35 years ago in London. Lovers Rock was Sade’s fifth studio album, released in 2000. @alex_ali_gonzalez @sade @sadeadu_
