makoto ran off to mt silver asap after starting to gain media recognition for defeating team rocket but alis didn't go anywhere so she's probably kind of messed up by that…

maybe instead of how it happens in the games (where blue is the champion for an unknown amount of time before the player comes along) it's more of a race to the finish between alis and jacred? like they're both simultaneously fighting the elite four and racing to be the first one to reach the champion's podium, culminating in their final battle

also i think there's plenty of times where alis and makoto travel together. so they experience some story events at the same time i think.

hmmm although... since alis is the champion, maybe it would make more sense for her to be the one that catches mewtwo?

but maybe she just doesn't get along well with it... but makoto does?

(the other idea is that makoto just wanders into cerulean cave and meets it... idk. meeting it just suits him best, i think.)

jacred probably has a january birthday... makoto and alis should already have birthdays set, but i would have to dig for them.

alis is 10 while makoto and the rival are 11.

this mean alis even snatches the title of youngest champion from the rival

i also might further split the story stuff up by having alis only challenge gyms while mako doesn't challenge any gyms but takes down team rocket? (and that's how makoto winds up in the limelight as well)
