how disastrous would it be if you shirked the responsibility
probably not that disastrous at all really unless you want to use that as a euphemism in which case natural disaster levels.

J, R
J: I like my soul. It's my soul. and as much as I have ambitions and dreams that I'd sacrifice nearly anything for, my soul isn't one of those things. Now, selling my soul for the benefit of someone else? If it's all the currency I had, I can see a handful of dire instances where the answer would be yes.
But (leading into the next question), I don't believe you can truly sell your soul. I don't believe in Hell. I believe we can create our own worst nightmares for ourselves right here on earth, and I believe that every experience -- good and bad -- steers us toward what we're meant to be.
R: I'm not a very religious person. I was raised Catholic, and I think any Catholic will tell you that you either buy into it completely or find another faith just as fast. If I had to pick a church, I'd pick the Episcopal church -- familiar enough in ritual, more realistic with the historical context of the Bible. Despite not being particularly religious, i feel like I'm a pretty faithful person. I do believe in God. In all gods, really, because I think God appears/appeals to people in a manner that makes the most sense to the individual.
