Put a word in my ask and I will write a Headcanon about it for my Muse.
//Now we all know Dick Van Dyke’s accent was....awful. (Not his fault: they hired an Irishman to teach him cockney.) But that being said, Bert’s very distinct accent is cockney, if one couldn’t tell.It’s nearly a part of his personality. His words combine in places, the endings are lost, and to an outsider he’d sound like a stereotype.
But it makes Bert, well, Bert.
He wouldn’t change how he sounds for the world, in the streets where he works he’s surrounded by the posh proper voices of London’s upper-class, it makes him unique, makes him memorable.
Bert is in a frump
