“if secret feelings aren’t the answer then that’s a third type of crazy”
Exactly. I see a lot of people treating Tyler’s behavior like a joke, or just harmless jealousy — like he just hates not being the center of attention.
But if we do take it that way (that he always wants to be the center of attention), then we’d kind of have to admit he’s being a bit of a jerk, right? Like, why can’t he handle seeing his best friend doing things without him without somehow making it about himself?
He’d be one of those friends who can’t stand watching someone else have a win unless he gets to make it about him in some way.
And I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t act like that with Josh, so any explanation other than jealousy just doesn’t make sense.
I actually love the fact that he’s not fake and doesn’t even bother pretending. He knows people will just take it as a joke and keep things light — no one’s gonna start drama over it — so he has the freedom to not fake it or force happiness.
And that anon connecting the pregnancy to Breach? It actually makes sense. Most of the songs were written this year, so they’re coming from a really current emotional place. They probably found out about the pregnancy around April or May, so it’s not far-fetched that the news inspired him to write some of these songs — and maybe even shaped the ending of City Walls, since even in the fictional story he doesn’t let his character end up happy or with Torch.
The fact that Josh wanted to revisit such an old song (from when their friendship was just starting) and rework it with Tyler, and that Tyler wrote something like One Way, which shows his current emotional state and how disconnected he feels from his life and the people around him — plus Tally???
That song literally shows how complex their relationship is. Tyler’s basically saying it might be time for them to go their separate ways and cut ties, but they still can’t fully let go. Josh doesn’t want to give up on him and still believes in him — he doesn’t keep score of how many times Tyler let him down or disappointed him, because he loves him.
For a song like that to exist, something was definitely going on behind the scenes. It feels like Tyler was really reflecting on where they stand — that maybe they can’t keep this undefined relationship going because it just causes too much tension, since they don’t have each other the way they really want. There’s always gonna be that emotional friction.
And I still can’t get over the fact that the original Robot Voices had female pronouns and Tyler just refused to use them he kept the song neutral.
Not to mention Rawfear, where he talks about taking small doses of something bad in a controlled way to build resistance, like emotional immunity. It’s like a lactose-intolerant person drinking a tiny bit of milk every day hoping their body will adapt and stop reacting.
Basically, exposing yourself to pain in small doses so you eventually get used to it and it doesn’t hurt as much.
He thought that by doing that — by pushing through and keeping up with life — he’d eventually get emotionally numb. But it doesn’t work; he can’t escape the impact, and the pain always comes back (sometimes even stronger the more he ignores it), just draining him emotionally.
Anyway, this album didn’t even exist last year , they decided to make it in March , and it’s so obviously a love letter to Josh. Tyler doesn’t want us (the fans) to ever fully move on from Joshler. He wants us to know.
And it really feels like he hates when the focus shifts too much to Jebby or even to him and Jenna — so he does things to pull the attention back to Joshler. Just like he did everything he could to bring the Joshler shippers back during the Clancy era.
Even after having another kid, he was still on Twitter making comments about Josh’s body like, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
