The Staves give an acoustic performance of "I Don't Say It, But I Feel It," from their latest album, All Now, and their new acoustic EP, Happy New Year.
The Staves perform "After School," from their new EP, Happy New Year, out today. The EP also includes acoustic versions of two other tracks from their album All Now—the title track and "I Don't Say It, But I Feel It"—and a cover of The Beatles' "She's Leaving Home." You can hear it here.
The Staves have shared a new song, "A Weird One." This follows last month's release of the song "Waiting for the Joy" and the announcement of a US acoustic tour for this fall, celebrating their spring 2024 album, All Now. "A rolling list of thoughts on one particular day; from the mundane to the existential," the Staves' Jessica and Camilla Staveley say of the new song. "A to-do list but with the underlying hum of grief and anxiety towards what the year ahead might bring." The band recorded the track during the All Now sessions with producer John Congleton.
The Staves have announced a US acoustic tour in November, featuring music from their new album, All Now, and more, with shows in Philadelphia, Northampton, Brooklyn, Nashville, Atlanta, St. Louis, Denver, Austin, and more. Tickets on sale Friday. Details here.
"The song began in the throes of the first lockdown when the feeling of isolation was so prominent," the Staves' Jessica and Camilla Staveley say of their new song, "Waiting for Joy." "Everyone seemed so inspired, and we were worried that we weren't inspired by music in general anymore." The band recorded the track during sessions with producer John Congleton for its 2024 album, All Now.
The Staves performed at the UK's famed Glastonbury Festival last weekend. Band mates and sisters Jessica and Camilla Stavely-Taylor gave a special acoustic session for the BBC from the festival, performing "You Held It All," from their new album, All Now.
"I think wanting things to be really good can make you very afraid to try, because you're worried about failing, about falling short of that, which is such a trap—it keeps you kind of frozen," The Staves' Camilla Stavely-Taylor says in the group's new video podcast about their new album, All Now. "Ultimately it doesn't matter, you have to just do things, keep those muscles moving, making things and being imperfect and imperfections are what life is about. That's human."
