“Oh, don’t be silly, babe. That’s extraordinarily dangerous.” West gave a scoff and a chuckle and shook his head. He kissed Fiona’s free hand, as she was carrying Willow in the other arm. He was covered head to toe in muck, guts and blood. He didn’t blame Fiona for not letting him in the house. He was planning on washing off outside anyway. He was planning on being home earlier than he was, before most people were up. Maybe Fiona would be sympathetic enough to give him the shower curtain to hang up outside so the neighbors wouldn’t get a show of him scrubbing down.
Standing Bear was in better condition, the only blood on him was his own. A nasty swipe from the death claw they’d fought that nearly took off Bear’s arm. Luckily for them both West had been quick with a stim-pack.
“We left about three hours before dawn. It is my fault, Fiona. I needed his help.”
