Disney Holiday Planning Series - HOW TO SAVE!
Hey guys, if you missed my video or would prefer a written format here it is! If not check out my recent video on how to save for Disney holidays. I’ll re-post the link soon!
So, there is no wrong or right way on how to save, and it isn’t easy nor is it cheap, but these are some of my recommended tips.
This is very important. You must create a budget on how much you ideally want to spend on your holiday, flights, accommodation and tickets, and you can take spending money into consideration if you wish. But you must have it be realistic - as in, you can’t aim to spend £400pp for return flights, tickets, food and accommodation, you must aim more for £2000 maximum! Also, make sure you stick to the budget or you can easily find yourself going over. Another thing to take into consideration is whether this is a ‘once in a lifetime’ or ‘i’ll come back’ type of holiday and that also determines on how much you are spending.
Opening a savings account in which you put money into but don’t withdraw any, is the best way to save. You can put as little as £10 in there a month or even more if you can afford it £200, £500 or £700! The choice is entirely yours but by you putting the money away into a separate account it means it isn’t there for you to spend on other things.
By making sure you are checking different agencies in store and online it means that you won’t be missing if any company is holding a particular deal. Don’t be afraid to shop around, yes you may be loyal to Virgin Atlantic, but British Airways may offer exactly the same flight to you for £400 cheaper! Likewise, agencies may advertise different in store as opposed to online and they may even offer discounted rates in store. Some agencies will even price match. Another thing is to check whether a package holiday is cheaper than buying the single elements. Sales are also a great way for you to save money - usually January sales or Black Friday are big ones!
WHERE ARE YOU STAYING - PROS AND CONS?
Make sure you have an idea on where you want to stay. As I said earlier, is it a once in a lifetime opportunity? If it is you may want to stay on site. If you choose to stay on site it may give you a lot of positive aspects like free dining, memory maker, discounts in stores and restaurants. But can be expensive and an inconvenience if you want to visit universal too. If you decide to stay off site because you want to visit places outside of Disney and it works out cheaper, think of transportation - hire car, lynx buses or ubers. Disney hotels provide free buses to the parks and some hotels off site offer free transfers. But taxis can be expensive!
I recommend buying your tickets online - before you go! Shop around and check different websites and try agencies. Agencies will offer you tickets with you package but have a look on different website as they may be cheaper!
That is it for this week, I hope you enjoyed! Next video is on Thursday and blog post on Saturday and it will be on Disney Accommodation - if you have anything you want to suggest then let me know!
