I told myself ‘no, I don’t want to cry again. I have a heart of steel but this fic managed to turn me into a wreck.’ lol. Because seriously, it is THAT good. Not just good but Excellente! Yum yum yum delicioso! (Delicioso for the female hormones. You know what I’m talking about.)
This isn’t a pretentious teenybopper gangster fic. This is of a different calibre. This is larger than anything you have known about fiction. This fic will cut you open and rip your heart out; it’s that intense and realistic.
After all these years, I finally bought kindle copies of my ALL-TIME 🌟 favourite fic (Originally Soompi) from Amazon …

I’ve read this back in 2007 in soompi. Now, I’m re-reading it to put some sunshine in my boring life (I’m currently in the last chapter of the 2nd and final book, and my stomach is twisting and jumping doing all sorts of somersault and wrecking everything on the way like godzilla a'ight) … NOOO! The feelings I get from this story are still there. The story is so remarkable it has a permanent spot in my heart, no kidding. I feel like I’ve become Einstein-genius mentally and emotionally after this April’s Black Coffee story 😆 From 2007 until now, the storyline is still playing in my mind and heart because it’s really good I think I said it again. Reading the revised version is just damn … I can’t explain myself. No words can describe…I’m gonna cry again if I say it 😩 (just read it for the ultimate ‘Heart Attack’ experience) 😉
Why you gotta make me a have a Heart Attack again, Solangel? 😭 Like I already know what was to come here and there (It’s mind boggling, entertaining, an emotional wrecker…my mind’s still jello but you’ll know when you read it. My mind is not functional write now and I’m currently drunk from April’s Black Coffee.) but DAMN this is on a whole new level. The plot points are still there and the complexity of their involvement put me in a state of dream that I just don’t want to wake up from. Scene-wise, I just go ‘OH MY GOSH. What just happened?😳’ note the blushing cheeks* Sol injected and revised some scenes and hell yeah, she really knows her thang! Like the scene is so good that my eyes jump back to the start of the scene just to savour it (ahem*this guy hottie, May and walls are a dangerous combination, you know what I’m talking about. But no worries, this focuses on the plot and romance, but you know the sizzling moments when it’s there. When I say sizzling, I mean SIZZZZLE-ing) The old wounds caused by this fic years ago were re-opened. And the intensity of how this fic is depicted now in the revised written words is legit! 👏 Just every word tugs at my heart. Like I know I’ve read it before for the nth time but I feel like crying and succumbing to gravity at the very first word of the prologue😭 🙌
Can I just say that Sangwoo and Jaewon just got 1x10^100000000 HOTTER in this published version? Even if I know who May favours more (and I favour also, lol. By favour I mean ‘Let’s go get married RIGHT NOW Mr. Gorgeous’ if I were May.) Somewhere in the story I just went ‘Hell, gurl! Even if you eenie meenie miney mo with eyes blindfolded, you can’t complain because they’re both dangerously regal and attractive!) But of course we know who REALLY makes May (and me) blush like CRAZEH! Because I’ve been paying attention to how Sol describes the two main guys and you know who May is more attracted to (But if I’m not wrong, I think every reader will know who is the more attractive one or maybe that’s just me) Seriously. Like everytime ‘this guy’ looks at May, I feel my cheeks blush too (seriously) like his gaze penetrates from the page itself. And you know that Solangel really knows what she’s doing with a great command of wits and emotions. You will be scared of how good she is.
And oh my gosh … Motorcycle Hotness. It just made Mr. Master-Of-The-Universe 100000000x sexier. I’m not even kidding.
Anyway…I’m off to read the final chapter of the final book. Here it goes. Like, author Sol, we know we’ve read this but…you can’t do this to us again. But I guess it’s what makes this story ‘April Loves Black Coffee’ you know. It’s the bittersweet heart pain despite the little almost glimmer of hope and redemption .
I’m gonna brave my demons, finish it and read the entire series again (because I can’t let go of these beautiful dark yet enchanting characters yet, and I don’t think I can or will). Solangel created a world so beautiful that you’ll kneel and weep at its majesty.
This isn’t just a precious fic hidden in the rough. This is REALLY popular in Soompi including other Sol’s works and orher classic fic authors there. It won Fanfic of the Year in Soompi along her other succeeding works between 2005-2008. It includes all-original korean characters (no celebrity). These are the real classics that don’t rely on idol characters. There’s a reason the popular ‘classic’ exo yaoi fics (though I don’t really read yaoi. I have only read 2 of them in AFF out of curiosity) don’t strike me mentally and emotionally as much. These Soompi non-gasoo fics set the bar REALLY high for me, even compared to int'l bestselling authors. I’m even not ashamed to say that these classic Soompi fics are really better than my own ones because they really are. Also, I find the characters in these fics WAY HOTTER, SEXIER (and more real) than the idol ones - the non-gasoo characters feel so real that you start to wonder when and how you’ll gonna meet these gorgeous and remarkable creatures someday (Solangel’s delivery was really flawless and grounded). We may get tired/take a break from a bias that we stan in groups and this affects choice to read fics about them. They are idols and they have real-life profession that affects our perception of them in our fantasies. But when it comes to non-gasoo fics, the original characters stay in the world that the story creates and gives a sense of exclusivity. And I think it’s what makes non-gasoo fics sophisticated. Other readers are fixated on reading fics about bias and I think that’s fine. But I wouldn’t have known what real fic looks if I haven’t tried these Soompi fics. Step out of your comfort zone, explore and ‘immerse yourself’ in a world you chose as Sol says. Trust me when I say that you’ll fall in love…DEEPER and HARDER in these Soompi fics. It’s been 9 years and I still haven’t recovered from April’s Black Coffee. I’m saying this from experience 😉. So if you’re in for a story of dark, twisted world of gangs, mind-bending fire games and twists, heart and psyche, realism, intuition and conscience, coffee and conversations, this is THE story. Up next, I’m gonna read the published version of Welcome to the Underworld by Con.Template. It’s also a story of the twisted world of gangs. Then Love Bugged by Solangel, another gang story. I haven’t read WTTU even in Soompi, but I had the chance to read Love Bugged in Soompi before Sol took it down for editing and publishing. Plotty, witty and hearty fics. Reading-wise, I’m more of a Soompi baby. I’ve read many fics from Winglin, AFF and Soompi and I gotta say Soompi fics for the win. Sighs heavily*It’s really hard to resist hot, attractive and darkly charming gang lords.😔😁 Oh and, author Thao, when are you gonna update A Drifter’s Paradise? It’s been 5 years I think. Pretty please 😁 (don’t get me started on this one. This is epic…And Rex is hot, I just had to say that lol. Yun Ah is a lucky gal. Lol) And I’m gonna wait for Solangel’s Banana Pancakes published version (motorcycle racing gang fic).
