Closer than Your Jugular Vein
Sometimes when you are about to lose things you value the most, you stop and realize that it is time to change yourself. I learned the hard way that I should change my perspective in things and stop worrying too much. To just let it go and to trust Allah's plan because HE knows me the best and HE is the One preparing me for a better me.
"We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein" [Quran, 50:16]
Looking into the meaning of this Ayah...I was thinking of my mother because she is one of the people that knows me the best. Then my best friends, and my sisters...However, none of them knows me better than my Creator. Whenever facing a tough situation, struggling in life and feeling like I am drowning in the ocean of my problems, I remind myself of this Ayah. To me, this is one of the most assuring ayahs. It reminds me that it is all about the connection between Allah and me. He is always there to protect me, help me and to dissolve all my problems. He is the one giving me the courage and strength to face them...So... why get stuck in a tornado that I create rather than just calling out to Him...Holding onto HIM...?
Our conversation with a friend yesterday reminded me that every problem we face is preparing us for a better version of us; an upgraded version. We were talking about vaccination. Newborn babies get vaccinated when they are only a couple of months old. Parent's compassion and protection over their babies is powerful, so I thought they must be terrified when they take their babies to vaccination. But they know that the baby has to get vaccinated to develop an immune system and be ready to fight when they face the virus in the future. To combat the diseases, their immune system should recognize it first. It is with those small doses their body gets stronger against the fights.
Just like the vaccinated newborn babies, we are developing an immune system for our future problems with the struggles we face today. Allah is preparing us for something better, He is making us stronger and braver... a better version of ourselves. Our Creator knows our problems better than anyone, and only He has all the keys to solving any kind of problems... even when we feel like it is the end of the world, HE is there for us...We just have to focus on the connection with ALLAH...and trust HIS plan for us...
"And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided." [Quran, 3:103]
May Allah (SWT) always guide us and light up the way when we feel like we are lost in our darkness. Ameen
