I don’t normally use my platform for politics for so many reasons but I can’t remain silent on this. This morning my oldest came to me to read a reply that he’s making to his friend and it explains to her why living in his shoes is vastly different than hers, why? Because she’s white. Being pulled over because he fits the description, poses a threat or may be a thief. He told her that if her dad gets pulled over he may get a warning but if his dad gets pulled over he may get a bullet in the neck and a police report... This is the America that my husband and I both served. As a wife of a BLACK man, mom of 2 Black men, I have BLACK brothers, cousins, nephews and friends, it’s scary. To not know if my loved ones will make it home because of the color of their skin in the year 2020.
