Lodi Broekhuizen is a local musician and sound engineer, who covers a wide berth of music from playing violin in the band 4th Street Elevator and electric guitar in the post punk band I Rock Z. Lodi currently works with Nu-Tone Studios in Milwaukee, playing and recording local bands and musicians. You can also meet Lodi during Allis After Hours music series at the Charles Allis Art Museum. He is recording and mixing the series for the creation of a compilation CD. Here is my rambling interview with Lodi at Rochambo last month, discussing his beginnings in music and the state of the local music and recording scene. In addition to the groups we discussed, he emailed me the following regarding more of his picks for local music.
There's a ton of great music happening here in Milwaukee so it's tough to make a concise list. Here are a few more local groups I dig:
Contemporary classical music -
I think I talked about Jazz groups in the interview so these should round out the list.
Other recordings of local bands that I've been impressed by:
Fever Marlene - "White China"
De La Buena - "La Tortuga"
