Determined and analytical, Allison is a force to be reckoned with. Though she's a woman of few words among her peers, she's quick to share her opinion and sets the facts straight. When Allison talks, people listen. She's a natural leader with a magnetic personality.
However, Allison has few friends outside of work, often spending long hours and overnights on cases. In social situations, something outside of her expertise, she's slightly more awkward and reserved, projecting a cooler, professional persona to shield herself from rejection.
It's not until she warms up to someone that her true personality shines through, someone who cares deeply for others, with immense empathy and selflessness. She's an old-school nerd with a protective streak, someone often underestimated.
Allison Bennett was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, to George and Michelle Bennett. She grew up with her younger sister, Beth. She also had a younger brother, Charlie, but he died at the age of 5 in a car accident, along with her father, when Allison was fourteen and Beth was ten.
Allison’s home life was fairly ordinary, her parents, especially her mother, pushing them all to do exceptionally well in school and uphold a Stepford-like image to the rest of the town.
When Allison was thirteen, she developed strange abilities that allowed her to manipulate the Earth’s gravitational pull on objects around her. When her parents found out, her mother called The Panoptes Foundation for help. The Foundation took Allison into custody and Allison spent a month at Monadnock, a camp for teenagers with abilities.
At Monadnock, Allison was brainwashed into forgetting about her abilities, while witnessing the Foundation’s attempts to quell the abilities of other campers. These methods included involuntary surgeries on visible mutations and drugs that dampened the abilities of others.
By the time Allison graduated the program, she had no memory of having abilities, or of the time spent at the camp. Her parents were forced to sign NDA forms that prevented them from telling Allison, which her father objected to.
When her father came close to telling Allison, the Foundation killed George Bennett, along with Charlie Bennett, who happened to be in the car at the time.
Allison attended the University of New Haven, majoring in criminal justice. She joined the NYPD and worked her way to become a detective, eventually becoming a consultant for SHIELD and a liaison between her team and SHIELD. She broke off contact with her mother and had a strained relationship with her sister, who was constantly in and out of trouble.
In December of 2015, Allison investigated the homicide of Marty Fields and the unusual circumstances surrounding it. She became acquainted with Willow Wren and gave the girl her contact information. Willow later used this contact information to alert Allison to her location when she was captured by the Foundation and HYDRA, and Allison passed this information onto SHIELD.
In the summer of 2016, Allison learned that Willow was being transferred to SHIELD custody at the Cocoon, following the Avengers Civil War.
Following a party in the fall of 2016, Willow found herself calling Allison to pick her up, feeling awkward at the party and wanting a ride home. The two bonded further and Willow began to see Allison as family, someone she could trust and who had her best interests at heart.
Allison eventually confided in Willow about her own past, the pair of them beginning to suspect that Allison was an early victim of the Panoptes Foundation in the 90s. As they began to put the pieces together, Allison joined Willow in her fight to take down the Panoptes Foundation.
Allison later adopted Willow, the girl finding a home with Allison and her cat. Allison also became a part of Willow's other adopted family, the McFlys in Vermont.
