Jackie Beulah Burkhart, as a mother, in my verse…
Jackie would do absolutely anything for her children. She wants them to succeed in life, and will gladly help them when it comes to navigating the world.
Loving, creative, and slightly over-bearing. She has trouble letting go of the reigns. She misses when they were younger, and the world seemed simpler. Jackie never wants her kids to feel like outcasts. She wants them to feel like they can conquer the world. Which, in her opinion, they can. With guidance, solid advice, and the occasional meddling moment.
But she loves them so, so deeply. It’s what guides all of her decisions. Even the more complicated ones.
And, despite the clear differences she has with her kids, she tries hard to connect with them. Whether it’s reading fairytales with Allison, clothes shopping with Grace, or watching the Muppets Show with Daniel. She always tries to find common ground.
She might not be able to bake, but there’s a lot of other things she does to make her kids feel loved. Like helping design their bedrooms, or taking them to the zoo despite how much she hates animals.
Her kids, in her mind, are perfect. Or, well, they can be. She sees potential in every single one of them. Even Grace, who’s basically her mini-me, even with her endlessly awkward and super bossy energy.
She’ll fight like hell for them, too. If you mess with her children then you’re totally messing with her. She’s a mother bear, and has a strong protective instinct. Jackie will go scorched Earth for her kids. They mean everything to her, and as long as she’s alive they’ll always have someone in their corner. Ready to fight, tooth and nail, for their sakes.
