On my birthday, I was treated by my friend @terri8732 to the final #WestWingWeekly #podcast at the @theatre_acedtla, hosted by @joshmalinasjoshmalina (who shares my birthday) and @hrishihirway, featuring a conversation about the final episode of the series, "Tomorrow." The tantalizing rumors of appearances by @bradleywhitford and @martinsheenofficial1were happily borne out. They were joined by @marycmccormack, #JimmySmits, #AllisonSmith, #ChristopherMisiano, @teripolo.official and @eli.attie; delightful antics ensued. But no one in the audience at the Ace was prepared for a second act, and certainly not starring #AaronSorkin, @therichardschiff, @lawrence_odonnell, #TommySchlamme, @themarleematlin, @bird_york, @maffyfitz (who got @allisonjanney on the phone), @itskimwebster, #williamduffy, @pjsactor, #CharlesNoland, @mattydel, #EvanArnold, @ramondeocampo, @karis_campbell, #KevinFalls and #PaulRedford! It was as close to a #WestWingReunion as we may ever get...and (thanks to Terri) I was there! I do wish the photo were better; if only I'd sprung for an 11. When the show was in first run, Mom and I would watch the Wednesday night Wings in our respective homes, and one of us would call the other to discuss that night's show. Tears filled my eyes with that memory as I listened to Sorkin, et al, reminisce. She'd have loved to be there last night as much as I did... https://www.instagram.com/p/B7dWO2DpgN9/?igshid=n571edbojxdd

Created by Paula Winograd, the “Lunchbox Stories” takes form as a voice recorder within a lunchbox which people can take, record, and broadcast stories anonymously in various neighbourhoods in Colombia. The “Lunchbox Stories” was created in 2008 amidst the internal and asymmetrical conflict between multiple political groups including left-wing rebel groups and government parties (BBC). The political turbulence in Colombia is far too complex and has been an accumulation of events tying back to at least 1800s (BBC). The project hopes to share the power of sharing, archiving personal stories to humanize the way history is constructed and remembered. More info on artists’ caption. This project uses Directed Participation, and shares concepts to Allison Smith’s “The Muster”. Although the choreography differs (people personally take the recorder wherever, vs. people congregating in one place) both pieces challenge the idea that history is natural or universal, emphasizing how history is crafted, intentional, created. Especially for the Lunchbox Stories, there is an emphasis on methods of experience influencing meaning. Every time I listen to it, I realize how hearing voices and sounds is humanizing and complicates the meaning from the stories. - Aina

The Art Assignment: “The Muster”, given by Allison Smith (artist: minnesbeta):
1. Answer the question “What are you fighting for?”
2. Fashion your own uniform that declares your cause.
3: Take a picture of yourself in your uniform in front of a neutral background.
What am I fighting for?
I am fighting for the balance of the system. Nothing exists in a vacuum, every component of the system is dependent on the whole. The system is always changing, links are being cut and new bonds are being formed, but it's never in isolation. It is always formed and reformed as a whole. If to many parts of the system are being cut away, the rest will fall apart.
The aspect of the uniform I choose to focus on for this assignment were the service ribbons. The boy scout badges of soldiers that show your deeds in the field. Each ribbon represents a medal or order given to you as a result of your actions.
In my field of battle, these are the ones I've earned, which are yours?
International naval traveling force - National wolf campaign - Ant guarding campaign
No animal testing medal - Victory of wind power - War of the grassfire
Hedgehog protecting medal issued by bonfires - Footprint awareness medal - Preservation medal
Tiger and bees combined efforts campaign - Worm compost campaign - Victory of solar power
Order of art - Glacier trapping medal - Memories from a parallel future commander ribbon
International land traveling force - Organic food distinguished service medal - International bacteria host
Tree hugging active defence force medal with two stars - Jellyfish liberation campaign - Recycling medal for long service and good conduct.
New assignment care of @pewtersp00n that asks you to answer this all important question! #theartassignment #themuster #allisonsmith
