Disclaimer: long post ahead. For about the last year and a half I’ve been angry. It started with the 2016 election results, but the tipping point was my diagnosis at the tail end of 2016. The entire year of 2017 my personal life was filled with situations that were unpleasant and upsetting and honestly just draining, and my default emotion was anger. I’ve been working on letting go of a lot of this anger, but I would be lying if I said most of it had passed. I’m aware that my fuse has been shorter than usual and because of that I’ve tried to keep political and personal rants at a minimum on this platform, but in light of recent events all I want to say is please be kind to one another. Life is extremely hard, and right now I think everyone is feeling upset about something so don’t make day to day life harder than it needs to be. Most days I wake up feeling pretty hopeless about my own life and the world around me, and the way I’ve been coping is by making cancer and “men are trash” jokes and using finger guns to lighten a heavy conversation. So my point is, don’t be a dick because you really don’t know anyone’s full story and honestly the world could use a little more empathy in it.
