As your company starts to deploy multiple products, you will undoubtedly be faced with the question of how to evaluate the relative return on investment of the new products.

Certainly these costs should extend beyond material purchases, COGS, software and licenses, and other directly costs. shared server and tech costs - data centers, servers, warehousing, machinery, dedicated licenses, etc

shared administrative staff - accountants, admin staff, anyone who spends time on the new product

shared office space / rent - if you had to rent out extra space, or reallocate space, that should be considered

shared executive costs - often overlooked, exec time for strategy, planning, execution, can all be very costly

shared bandwidth costs - especially if you’re cloud-based or streaming-based, bandwidth allocation is costly

shared professional costs - legal costs to evaluate contracts, 3rd party service costs, etc

Take a look at the above list and make sure you apply accurately all the true allocated shared costs. If you inadvertently ignore some relevant costs, you will undoubtedly be over-simplifying and over-projecting the end return on investment for your new product.
