“To fit any shape is a disguise, yet it fails to hide the inner self.”
EMMA DUMONT Madison Davenport
Anika grew up in foster care, having never known her parents or the reason they thought the best option would be to give her up. The girl spent her life moving between home after home, never staying anywhere for too long, not solely because the families didn’t want her but because they just couldn’t put up with her; they often specified the difference between the two. She was never a hit with the kids no matter what school she went to. She was always the kid at the back of the class that seemed to cause the most trouble in school and the very same attitude extended to most, if not all aspects of her life. Anika simply loved causing trouble. As far as she was concerned it was one of the best ways to entertain herself even if others around her didn’t seem to agree with her methods of entertainment, any foster parents included. And as soon as she found out about her power, the trouble could only increase, along with the fun. Some would say her behavior was a cry for help; others suggested it was simply the typical behavior of a foster kid and nothing could be done about it. Of course, that very attitude enraged Anika and, spitefully, she lived chose to live down to their expectations.
As she grew up, her looks began to paint a much nicer picture than her personality had ever been able to. She was beautiful and she couldn’t cover that up with her multiple piercings and rather extreme haircuts, though she did try her best. Much to her disproval, at first she caught the attention of many boys after puberty hit her good, though she quickly adjusted to the change in her life, finding some sort of connection with a horrific influence, despite the fact she surely didn’t need one. She got involved at the young age of fifteen with a young man two years older, Ace. He was the stereotypical bad boy; he was involved in theft, drugs, violence and most importantly, gang involvement. Naturally, his behavior exacerbated hers.
She spent years with Ace but eventually the both of them were sent to prison for their various crimes. By that point, Anika had mastered her power and had no trouble sneaking out. But that never meant she learned her lesson. Time and time again she would break the law, even years after splitting from Ace. It was only years after that she was tracked down by the government, after multiple miraculous breakouts of prison. Anika would say herself that she was surprised it had taken them so long to do so. But she didn’t go without a fight either. Now at Lake Grimstone though, she’s sure she can put her talents to good use in one way or another. Top of her list was taking the government down, once and for all. The kinds of trouble Anika was able to get into were not nearly as fun as the kinds she’d been getting into before she was found, and her number one priority is finding a way out. The prison was never able to stop her, so she doesn’t see why the government should. Now that she helped TRP take control, she is counting the days until she can get out of the prison. Unfortunately, TRP has not given them a date yet but she is ready, nonetheless.
POSITIVE: fun, loyal, independent, resourceful
NEGATIVE: aggressive, troublesome, impish, defiant
Though she probably wouldn’t admit, Anika definitely enjoys Scott’s company; the two of them have fun together, that’s undeniable. The only trouble was that, with him being a guard, he didn’t seem to be thrilled by the whole situation. She doesn’t know much about him, but she’s fairly private with him as well so she can’t blame him. However, it is his belief in her that makes her think that, despite his being her enemy in a way, they could become friends.
Admittedly, Kiara is the last person Anika thought she would ever be able to like– she’s too shy and too cautious and usually, that’s something Anika looks down on and often questions. However, living with her stirred something in her that she’d only really felt during some brief, fleeting interactions with fellow inmates during her various prison stints. Anika has no interest in expressing the feelings she’s been feeling, but in the meanwhile, she’s enjoying getting closer and closer to the girl.
Generally, guys like Lucas just make Anika want to slap them herself. At first, she tried to put up with Lucas for Kiara’s sake, but as she is forced to become aware of her feelings about Kiara, she’s become more and more resentful. He’s simply not good enough for Kiara. If Anika was pressed, she could probably say one or two nice things about him, but more often than not, she finds herself annoyed by him.
Training with Jay was not Anika’s idea of a good time. She sensed that the guy was hiding something but wasn’t quite sure on what that was. However, it all became quite clear when TRP engineered a coup to take over Lake Grimstone. While she still doesn't know why he did what he did she does want to find out. They had been training partners for a while and whether she wants to admitted or not she did see him as a friend, the only question now is whether or not she can trust him.
