Just creepin' on your blog. You're like my long lost mini-me. It's somewhat bizarre (except I'm a Tom Baker girl.) I just want to say to keep at music even if you get utterly discouraged and want to give up. I've spent more time chasing dreams than achieving them, but wise man once told me "Keep writing because you love it, regardless of if anyone shows up to listen." That man was our buddy Jon. ;) Keep on truckin'!

Wow, thank you so much for those words of encouragement! I really needed to hear that tonight. Between this message and seeing Switchfoot and Fading West last night, and just hearing the guys talk about music (especially Jon and Tim, they both said some really encouraging things threw out the night last night that really got to me) i’ve just been feeling really excited about my future with music and where i might go with it someday. Maybe someday i’ll even play on a tour with them. We just always gotta keep following our dreams, no matter what. :)

Thank you once again so much for this amazing message, it really means a lot to me.

The world is a much better place with people like you guys in it. :)

1. Favorite song at the moment? Hmmmm, good question. Dear Pianist by Levi the Poet has been in my head all week. (you should know)

2. The last book you read? "Blood and Guts: A Short History of Medicine," but thats for a class. It's a really interesting book though, so I'm enjoying it.

3. What is the most played song in your music library? I wish spotify would tell me, but it's probably "How Many Is a Brazilian?" by They Will Fall, or "The New Breed" by Oh, Sleeper.

4. Do you have a favorite story/memory from school? Hmmm....well, it's not my favorite, but once a kid in my class, during the last few weeks of high school, said, from the back of the class as my calc teacher was talking about something, "We don't care!". It was funny if you were there. 

5. What was your favorite game to play when you were growing up? HARVEST MOON AWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

6. What are your top three favorite movies? Forest Gump The Green Mile Lord of the Rings (all three cause I like to watch them as a singular twelve hour movie)

7. Can you play an instrument? (no, mayonnaise is not an instrument) I can play bass in the sense that I don't completely fail at it whenever I touch it and that I can do basic riffs. But no, it probably doesnt count hahaha

8. Do you prefer spontaneity or routine? A little bit of both. I need routine to get stuff done, but I am sometimes really spontaneous and will just want to go do some random stuff at weird hours of the night.

9. What kind of student were you in school? I was the kid who had lots of potential, but no drive. Like, I got decent grades, a rather high GPA, but never really studied. If I applied myself more, I could have done a lot better. I'm trying to make up for it a little bit now in college.

10. What is your current guilty pleasure? Wopping

11. Do you think Furbies are terrifying? I have one keeping watch over our shed. It turns the chainsaw on every once in a while. WHAT IF YOU DRESSED UP AS A FURBY FOR HALLOWEEN.

I've discovered in college my big hurdle is explaining why I can't concentrate when I'm around people. Even if they're completely silent, they're incredibly loud. I also can't work in a messy room, because it's also loud. So I try to snag an individual study room in the library. But not the one with the thermostat that squeals at me. Or the one with the table that makes my computer make weird noises. (No one else can hear those, but I can and they hurt.)

I have discovered something: when I stopped caring if people believed me about my synesthesia, I started talking about it a lot more, and people are very interested in it. I also found several other synnies in the process and helped one of my friends with naming his "weird quirk." But I have the introvert problem of talking obsessively about things I like, but having no ability to talk about things I don't. So I have gotten excited and come off as rude before. Gotta reign in the introversion!

So, I'm getting ready to compile a scholarly project about synesthesia to present to the high-toned and fancy people of my university (there's a lecture series/scholarship competition that I'm supposed to be participating in) and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have to have peer-reviewed, scholarly articles (so medical journals et. cetera) and I don't know where to start. Any advice?

Ok, so I've noticed my dad saying stuff like "I can't look at that; it makes my feet hurt." Or "I hate that sound. It makes my teeth hurt." I have similar experiences, and I know my dad is a synesthete. Is this another type of synesthesia?

I'm gonna say yes :)
