Considering what I've seen and the discussions we've had, I've gotta say you've got a pretty solid at LEAST 9.. Once we've actually interacted I think I can give a much better, more accurate opinion on it :> But I like what I've seen so far.
Thanks! ;v; I have a very steep love/hate relationship with meta and Gabriel. I love digging into his character and psychological thought process, but it hurts me to do so. He’s not an easy character to grasp, nor portray. His complexity is pretty gritty when you start peeling back the layers. Because Gabriel is flawed, he has a lot of triggers—- some of which are a little more volatile than others. Like all angels, he’s a creature driven by impulse, his tense is very much in the present, which means he can be rather reactionary to certain situations.
But he’s also quite cautious when dealing with others (angels in particular); he rarely, if ever gives his name, unless it’s forced out of him or he’s placed in a situation where he NEEDS to give it, otherwise he generally will dance around identities or give one of his aliases. This is an angel that’s been hiding for at least a couple of thousand years, so he’s gotten pretty damn good at eluding and hiding who he is. Which brings me to his cowardice, I feel as if a lot of people have developed a misconception about his cowardice in that he left specifically because he wanted to be with the Pagans or wanted to leave Heaven and his family, which is a very generalized assumption by the fandom and most fail to take into account that he was very much visibly as well as emotionally triggered by his brothers. He loved his family. And if you actually watch the part where he’s speaking to Cas about their Father, it’s quite obvious that he’s bitter about it, he looked for him——probably for a very long time; and, it was most likely what broke him in the end, the failure. His loss of faith led him to the Pagans, and he found a new niche in Kali to fill that particular void, and if you watch how he treats her, he places her on a very high pedestal, above himself, above his own life, which speaks volumes on it’s own, because he quite obviously holds her in a worshiping light in how he regards her.
Now this isn’t to downgrade his love or view of Kali, he loved her, but he would have found a very common association in her and God. Kali is Time and Continuity, Death, and Wrath, and Passion, she embodies everything that he would have revered in God, so it’s quite an easy fit for him to transfer what is already ingrained into him over to her. As much as an angel can change their POV’s, they cannot conceivably change what is inherently bred into them. They are MADE to worship, they are made to follow orders, and when that becomes annulled or cut off by their Creator, they simply move it to another who fits the mold.
{That got much longer than I intended, whoops.}
