my horror hot take is that after leaving his world horror has some very intense paranoia and a hard time with food, leading to scenarios where Killer and Dust have to poke him until he eats something. They probably don't want him to pass out again

So like i know "oh but he's free of his world so now he can eat whatever he likes" and i also know him being this really good cook and eating meat are so notable in fanon but like... LISTEN here's my propaganda....
I think his decision not to eat human flesh is another way for his control freak ass to keep a cool head, and also how he differentiates himself from other monsters... how he punishes himself for his moral failings... how he keeps control. it is so many things... and i dont think any of them would suddenly disappear if he left his world and joined the bad sanses. in fact imo it would get WORSE. now he's got this goopy evil thing telling him what to do. and horror fucking hATES authorities. he didnt take that shit from undyne and now he has to take it from this idiot? fuck that. so his way of being a problem? missing meals. he'll pass out on the battlefield or feel intense discomfort and make it everyone else's problem (especially NMs), he'll be irritable, he'll continually have spirals and it will be his way of making it everyone else's problem (also. old habits die hard as well. even if the food in front of him was made by himself he might still feel irrationally that he shouldn't eat it...)
but also i think if his world was empty and he didnt have anything to go back to post flowey crashout from the comics (which is my HC for how he joins NM's gang), that "empty world" is a symbol of his “failings” he was meant to protect the monsters (a self assigned duty) and he failed and SOMEHOW he's the one alive. so its a continued self punishment for that. and it is also how he keeps a cool head in this new impossible situation where theres clones of him. and suddenly the world is so vast and there's so much of everything going on... it's no longer the underground and snowdin, now he has to contend with MULTIPLE VERSIONS OF REALITY. realities where he's a good person. realities where he kills his own brother...... how does one cope with that shit? the same way he's coped with everything else. flimsy self justification and wallowing in misery... also he gains an alcohol addiction if he didnt have that one already but thats a rant for another time LOL
anyway also overexposure to something can just give you discomfort. eating human flesh raw was normalized in the context of his world but once he gets out of it there's a chance the sight of it would just bring back memories (of his world, of his failures, of all the self hatred he has...). anyway in conclusion he's a vegetarian
