Umm...

So this just happened.

I am having the most absurd shiny luck. Shiny Cofagrigus is my favorite shiny, and my main reason for getting the Shiny Charm in Moon was because I really wanted one. I went back to Omega Ruby to try and breed a 6IV Yamask to use as the mom, figured I should do that in Omega Ruby since there’s a bunch of move tutor moves that I really like for Cofagrigus, so I could teach the mom some moves before sending her over and use her on my team as well, and maybe hatch a couple others to teach move tutor moves to try out as well. Weird mixed-attacking Cofagrigus with a Relaxed nature and Knock Off is fun!

Instead, after only about 70 eggs hatched over the last few days in Omega Ruby trying to get a perfect 6IV female Yamask, I just got this. At full odds, with no Shiny charm or Masuda Method. o_O

Um. Okay then!

Perfect IVs in all but speed, and a Relaxed nature. Guess I’m going to teach him some tutor moves then send him over to Moon! After I think of a name that isn’t “Wait what”, which was my first thoughts after realizing “Hey, wait, did that Yamask I just hatched have yellow eyes?”

Think I’m going to hunt for a Bold natured shiny Cofagrigus in Moon as well, partially because I was planning this Big Shiny Hunt with Masuda Method and the Shiny Charm and still want to do it! I can have two shiny Cofagrigus. Along with the one I already have, the 6IV one I’m trying to get, and the 0 speed IV Relaxed one I hatched yesterday for Trick Room team stuff. Heck, I can just have an entire team of Cofagrigus.

*Confused yet happy shrug at playing Pokemon for ~20 years with my only non-event shiny being a wild Onix I found once, and then suddenly hatching two awesome shinies a week apart without purposefully looking for them*

So, two days ago I completed the Alola Dex and got the Shiny Charm. I’ve never gotten one of these before, but I’ve really wanted to hunt for a shiny Cofagrigus because pink and purple coffin is ridiculous and wonderful and my favorite shiny. In all the years of playing, the only shiny I’ve ever found was an Onix (now a Steelix, named Colossus).

I’ve gotten so close to breeding and training competitive versions of all the available ghost types, was just missing Spiritomb, Oricorio and Shedinja. Figured I’d do a bit more breeding to get those, then start breeding Yamask looking for a shiny.

...40 Spiritomb eggs, and I get this.

Was just hatching eggs while falling asleep in bed, because it’s something I do when winding down for the night. Was half asleep, opened my eyes to check the screen, and HOLY CRAP WAIT THAT ONE IS BLUE.

Must hop out of bed to share achievement with world!

She’s got the hidden ability, too! Perfect IVs in all but speed and attack, Calm nature. Going to hyper train her to patch up the speed IV, then she’ll be decently competitive.

Now I just need to think of a name that’s not Holy Cow. :P

EDIT: She has been renamed Error 403. Because Spiritomb is classified as the Forbidden Pokemon. :P

Finally beat Moon version and now time for some Pokemon breeding and pvp battling! Super happy with this Honedge I bred today. Raised and EV trained and is now a great competitive Aegislash! I screwed up a bit with the last Aegislash I bred, didn’t realize how important low speed was until I used him in battle for a while. Now his daughter can carry on his legacy, just... much... more... slowly...

We’re also fighting in the 2017 International Challenge February that’s happening online through this weekend. Unfortunately can’t take my new Aegislash or my Lunala with me, and don’t have another competitive ghost in Moon version yet for the 6th slot on our team, so Bwark the Primarina is filling in. So close to being mono-ghost! If you run into a trainer named Frey with a team that’s a whole bunch of ghosts and one pretty seal, that’s me!

2/4/17: Super quick doodle of Nebby! Trying to draw Cosmog from memory, and hey... not too far off, I think.

Finally caught Nebby today! Modest nature, in a Moon Ball. Took 3 tries. I’m all excited that I can finally start work on a legendary/uber branch of my ghost team!

Pokemon Moon nerd

Me: I need to hurry up and get through the main storyline so I don't get everything spoilered for me. Also me: Or... I could spend my time playing today breeding and hatching ~50 Abras in an attempt to get a Synchronize Abra of every single nature. *the next day* Me: I need to hurry up and get through the main storyline so I don't get everything spoilered for me. Also me: Or... If I SOS Chain 40+ Phantumps and use my Adamant Synchronize Abra and then catch a male one I might be able to have an Adamant 4IV Phantump father. Then I can catch a male Mimikyu to have in my party, SOS Chain 40+ Mimikyus, send out the male Mimikyu when the wild one is female so I can use the Love Ball, then breed the hopefully 4IV female Mimikyu with the Adamant 4IV Phantump, hatch as many babies as possible, level them up to the point where I can analyze their stats since I don't have access to IV analysis yet, and then pick the best one to have on my team. *I am going to be doing this forever... Oh my god, self. Just get an Adamant Mimikyu for your team and be done with it, then hyper train it later, and get back into IV breeding once you actually have access to Pokemon Bank and the IV rater... but I have so much fun nerding out over Pokemon breeding and game mechanics...*

There’s a place very early on Route 2 with some ghost Pokemon. I’m seeing Gastly, and also looks like Drifloon during the day and Misdreavus at night.

Was all worried I wouldn’t be able to get a Gastly until much later in the game, but after some resetting, I’ve got my Gastly! Timid nature, in an Ultra Ball, name is Shadow... yesssssss.

All is right with the world. Shadow is in my team before the first island challenge.

Now to catch a Misdreavus and Drifloon with beneficial natures before progressing. Don’t have to worry about IVs so much now that Hyper Training is a thing, but am probably going to be taking a fairly slow and leisurely stroll through the games doing a lot of resetting and hunting for the right natures, because I’m a nerd like that.
