Bit of a different question from the usual scenario asks: How different do you think Demonology: Incubus would have been if it were a visual novel instead? Same goes for Aloners as an Interactive Novel
Hm! Incubus as a visual novel would've been... expensive! I'd have needed a lot of one-off characters to have character art, not to mention all the different locations. Realistically, it would have meant that I stripped the story and cast way back. It would've been set primarily at the detective's apartment and in some Pink Street locations, then only a handful of other places. The story would've been made much smaller. No "monster of the week" encounters. I would've had to completely change Flea's character arc because there just wouldn't be enough room to do what I'm currently doing with him. But... it would've been really fun to have a fully emotive sprite for him! The expressions would've been amazing and you know the sexy CGs would've been... mm!
If Aloners had been an interactive novel... well, it would've been a pretty bad one, I think, because my prose writing wasn't very good back in 2014. If I could re-do it now as IF, though... I would have a lot of fun describing Trash's physicality; how he stands and walks and reclines and his little tics and fidgets. You'd think I might expand the setting or the cast a little, since the expense of art is no longer a concern, but... no, I don't think I would. The isolated and lonely vibe was always the goal, so I think the story would be mostly the same. Probably?
This was such an interesting ask! <3
